Cresyn CS-HP500 Headphones Review

Value & Conclusion »

Performance

The CS-HP500s from Cresyn are aimed at the budget conscious consumer who wants a decent set of headphones to use on the move. The CS-HP500s perform no different to what I would expect for a set of $40 headphones. The sound is hollow and the midrange is a bit distant. The highs are quite harsh and do not extend that high. The bass is halfway decent and has nice presence without being overly dominant (unlike some other very cheap headphones). The midrange is reasonably well textured, but it is too recessed in order to realize its full potential.

Compared to the fact that they only cost $40 they definitely hold their own, but do not expect them to perform nearly as good as say a set of open back Grado SR-60 headphones which cost around $60. If you are going to primarily use the headphones on the move the CS-HP500s are a worthy contender, however, for home use you should definitely save up a bit longer and go for the radically better sounding Grado SR-60s, the difference between the two is like night and day plus the price difference a mere $20.

Basically if you are looking for a cheap set of headphones for home use you should not even begin to consider, it is only on the move they hold their right.

Durability

The CS-HP500s are built to last if you do not count the rather cheapish cable. The ear cups and headband seem well constructed and will definitely last a long time.
