Powercolor HD 5850 PCS+ Review

Overclocking

To find the maximum overclock of our card we used a combination of GPUTool and our benchmarking suite.
The overclocks listed here were achieved with the default fan and voltage settings as defined in the VGA BIOS. Please note that every single sample overclocks differently, that's why our results here can only serve as a guideline for what you can expect from your card.

The overclocks of our card are 950 MHz core (25% overclock) and 1200 MHz Memory (14% overclock). Whereas the memory overclocks similar to what we saw on other HD 5850 and HD 5870 cards, the achieved core clock is a good 100 MHz higher. It still does not reach the mythical 1000 MHz mark that so many overclockers are shooting for.
Please note, the default clocks in this screenshot seem to be off due to a GPU-Z bug. Correct default clocks are 760 / 1050.

Overclocked Performance

Using these clock frequencies we ran a quick test of Call of Duty 4 to evaluate the gains from overclocking.

The actual 3D performance gained from overclocking is 20.5%.

Temperatures

Temperatures are amazing, even with the quiet fan and the out of the box overclocking, the temperatures are super low. It seems Powercolor struck gold with this cooling solution.
