Sennheiser GSP 301 Review

Introduction

Being one of the most highly regarded manufacturers of hi-fi headphones in the world, Sennheiser surely needs no special introduction. It's a bit less well-known that the legendary German company also has a product line aimed directly at gamers consisting of a couple of gaming headsets and two high-end, eSports-grade external sound cards. Today, we'll take an in-depth look at their entry-level gaming headset dubbed the Sennheiser GSP 301.

The Sennheiser GSP 301 is a simple, no-frills kind of a headset. It has no RGB LEDs or drivers, nor does it come with a USB sound card. The idea is for you to simply plug it into your existing sound card, console, gamepad, or mobile device via a 3.5-mm connector (TRRS or dual TRS) before putting it on your head and using it. Considering its asking price of $100, it may seem to lack features, but let's keep in mind that we're talking about Sennheiser here. Even though this is their entry-level gaming headset, they still have an impressive reputation to maintain, which is why they did their best to make the GSP 301 as comfortable and nice-sounding as possible. You could go over its fairly short feature list, glance at the price, and move along in your search for your next gaming headset, but that would be a mistake - quality over quantity is quite obviously what Sennheiser was going for with the GSP 301.

Should you be familiar with their gaming-headset lineup, you're probably wondering how the GSP 301 differs from the GSP 300 or GSP 302. The answer is in its white with black accents. The GSP 300 is black with blue accents, while the GSP 302 is completely black. Other than that, they're identical, which hence has everything I'll mention in this review apply to all three.
