Swiftech has been featured on TechPowerUp multiple times, with the most recent time being their MCP655-PWM pump that uses an updated Laing D5 pump. We saw then how Swiftech worked with Xylem/Laing to help get a more compatible PWM motor on the pump for everyone, and this has been part of their business strategy in the past 1-2 years, wherein they want to regain market share in the enthusiast watercooling DIY market. One of the ways to go about this is with an updated flagship CPU block, given this ends up being a component used more often than not and is a design that can last for years if done well. Swiftech's Apogee XL did not match up to the high expectations of the market, so today, we get to see how the new Apogee SKF fares.
This is an interesting review from the very outset as a result of how Swiftech went about the Apogee SKF's marketing and distribution. They started off with a limited edition "Heirloom Series", which as of the date of this review can not even be purchased anymore. This does not at all mean this review is not useful. Just consider that the upcoming Apogee SKF standard editions are based off the exact same design with some preset options. Take a look at the specifications table below to understand how customizable the "Heirloom Series" is, and know now that the upcoming version will only have two top options, one metal and the other acetal, for example.
