Introduction

SODIMMs aren't exactly the most exciting PC hardware we can buy today. Usually, they end up in smaller PCs or stashed away some place where you can't see them, basking in the sauna heat that is the inside of a laptop. However, there are some Mini-ITX desktop boards out there that need this form factor of memory to offer enthusiast-oriented variants, such as ASRock's X299E-ITX/ac. I mean, who isn't going to drool a bit over so many CPU cores in such a small space, covered by a full-cover waterblock? Yet, when it comes time to choose memory to go with that board, or maybe with that fancy high-end gaming laptop that supports overclocking, which of those boring SODIMM sticks, are you going to buy? Because laptops are common, there are many different options for SODIMMs, but very few stand out from the rest. That is, until I got an email from Team Group.

I'm rather at a loss for words over what they sent me. I mean, sure, it's some SODIMMs, and you better believe these sticks aren't your every day SO-DIMMs, and are intended for gamers and enthusiasts. You can see that easily in the picture below. That's the boring stuff. With specifications for 2666 MHz right out of the box, these sticks are randomly capable of overclocking all the way up to 3600 MHz, and that's rather interesting for sure. Pick a set, see what you get? As an enthusiast who like to tune system performance, what's not to like about that? Then things get out futuristic? Copper and graphene cooling? Uh... what!?!

Graphene is one of those space-age inventions; a single-atom-thick layer carbon in a tight lattice that, as it turns out, is pretty good at transferring heat. Well, actually, it is the very best at room temperature. It's super-light, but one of the strongest materials known to man, and just might end up replacing lithium in batteries. It's a crazy form of one of the most abundant materials ever, and it sits here on these rather simple SODIMMs, helping keep them cool, much to my surprise. These memory sticks are so crazy I have no idea why these Team Group T-Force Vulcan SODIMMs aren't getting more attention, so let's give them some!
