Packaging

The Tesoro Control R1 is packed into a white box with a window at the front. The box has the usual technical specifications, features, and disposal information, alongside a few render images. Once opened, you can access your fresh new mouse and its quick-start guide. There are no replacement mouse feet unfortunately, which is quite a letdown for the price.

Shape

This mouse is pretty large, but doesn't have a very high profile like most in the same size category. It features a right-handed ergonomic design with a rather wide rear area and some deep grooves on the shell and fits into my 18 cm hands well when palm-gripped. I think it's safe to say that users with bigger hands might find this mouse perfectly comfortable, too.

Unlike the Razer DeathAdder and Zowie EC-series, for instance, the Control R1 doesn't really follow the usual right-handed, big mouse form factor. Instead, it has some well-defined grooves, though without being too aggressively shaped. The whole right side is slanted a bit. The left side panels have a few deep thumb grooves, and the right panel features some relatively deep concave parts, too. I found these very helpful when I tried to pick up the mouse after big swipes, and the whole mouse just feels very comfortable overall. Of course, comfort is subjective, as what works for me might not work for you—you have to try to be sure.

As for dimensions, the Control R1 is about 130.5 mm (5.14") long, which means it's a rather long mouse. The total width is 72.5 mm (2.85"), but depending on your grip style, the actual width at which it is gripped is approximately 58 mm (2.28"). The total height is 42 mm (1.65"), and the hump is towards the back. I would mainly recommend this mouse to palm grippers with hands bigger than 17 cm. As always, these are only rough guidelines—you should try out a mouse before buying it to be sure it's the right one for you.
