Valve Announces More Left 4 Dead DLC

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the next major downloadable content (DLC) update for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead (L4D), the #1 new game title on Xbox 360 and PC in 2008.

Entitled "Crash Course," the latest DLC delivers new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay to both platforms. Targeted for release in September, "Crash Course" bridges the gap between the end of the "No Mercy" campaign and the beginning of "Death Toll" in the original game, expanding the game universe with new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.
While containing both Survival maps and a Co-operative Campaign, the primary goal of "Crash" is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game's existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay.

"Since the release of Left 4 Dead last November, the design team has been excited about creating new experiences for this world and allowing players to do the same, by releasing much of our internal toolset, like the Survival Pack and Authoring Tools," said Gabe Newell. "We're working with the fans toward the ongoing entertainment value of the product."

Left 4 Dead is an action horror game from Valve that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic, narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games. Released in November of 2008, L4D has earned over 50 industry awards from outlets around the world and sold almost 3 million copies worldwide.

Left 4 Dead: Crash Course is targeted for release in September and will be available free of charge on the PC and for 560 Gamer points on Xbox Live.

Valve, since you are being so nice to us I guess I'll buy L4D 2 now. It doesn't matter, I'm going to buy it anyways. This game in my opinion is the best since Pac-Man came out, they can sell me whatever they want! Of course, more free content is always good too! :toast:

The gameplay can be a bit repetitive but ridiculously addictive at the same time. While the game isn't completely balanced yet (they nerfed some zombies for being too realistic) it's still fun and satisfying to know what you do (or don't) really can make a difference to the rest of your teammates.

If they ever run another 50% off sale you should jump on it. :rockout:

Is anyone surprised at the low sale count? I was expecting 5 million. The game is incredibly popular

I guess console owners don't like FPS with that awkwardly useless thumb stick (and are too stubborn to plug in a keyboard and mouse lest they be like their PC overlords).

Yay, 560MSP! What a rip off, I paid €60 ($86) for this fucking game, why should I have to pay? PC gamers get it free and they most likely paid a lot less than I did, I'm sorry, I can't afford 560MSP as I spent the extra cost on the 360 version. I can easily afford it but why bother when the game is barely worth €30.

Needs moar carlton!, but seriously, we need some price-drops for games/software. Idk if I'll get this when it comes out or not, depends if I can find a good price for it.

I don't really consider this free ( I paid for the game). It just makes it a better value. They released 3/4 of the game and then offer free downloads for it. It's good marketing for them.

Blame Microsoft and their :mad::mad::mad:ty LIVE service. I would've bought a Xbox 360 if it weren't for their retarded regional restriction (26 countries only? Typical MS stupidity) and the fact that they impose Microsoft Points on DLC that is meant to be free in the first place.

I don't blame you, I sold mine because of all of microsofts bullshit and proprietary designs, I'm pretty much bored of gaming anyways. I am however very fond of valve, they almost never disapoint me (excluding CS:S and TF2)

I'm completely addicted to this game. I really like the small groups in each server. It feels more personal. I think I've added more friends to my buddy list from l4d than any other game.
