HIS Readies HD 4890 iCooler X4

ATI partner HIS, popular for the IceQ series graphics cards, seems to have something up its sleeves for the Radeon HD 4890, although it's not an IceQ product. The HIS Radeon HD 4890 iCooler X4 is touted to be the company's non-reference offering that boasts of superior cooling performance. The cooler consists of a central fan that pushes air onto aluminum fin heatsinks on either sides. From what we can see, two 8 mm heatpipes convey heat to these. The card holds 1 GB of GDDR5 memory, and reference AMD clock speeds of 850/975 MHz (core/memory). The bundle includes the company's recently announced Bumptop 3D desktop environment software. Expect this to be priced on par with most other Radeon HD 4890 accelerators.

I see some big ass heatpipes over there, so i´m guessing it cant be bad let just hope they dont screw things up with moronic stickers

If you don't like those stickers, use a hair-dryer to remove them intact, stick them back up when you need to RMA :)

the Vapour X coolers on 'Toxic' cards have big ass heatpipes too but cooling is still half arsed unless you edit the bios to your own desired parameters which is what ive done.

I use to hit 62'c idle on my 4870 toxic but after editing the bios & some MX-2 im getting 50-52'c idle MAX & its still silent as one of them farts you let off in a elevator full of people before you arrive to you floor.

but previously i had my doubts about Vapour X coolers.

I use to hit 62'c idle on my 4870 toxic but after editing the bios & some MX-2 im getting 50-52'c idle MAX & its still silent as one of them farts you let off in a elevator full of people before you arrive to you floor.

I hear ya man. I have to crank my fan up to 60% sometimes to keep my reference sapphire 1GB 4870 from overheating and turning my pc off. the heat that it cranks is crazy. its a little furnace that is great in winter but forces me to use my AC a lot more

all i really did was underclock the toxic & mess about with the fan controls on both cards - to get around 52'c my toxic spins at around 25% which is still as silent as it was before i touched it until i start gaming, then it starts kickin up to 30%+ & by that time you'd think maybe group of gypsy smurfs have infiltrated your case & started doing the hoovering all at the same time.

If this is the same cooler as the GTX 295 and someone debunked that, then they need their head examined. Looks like this baby can cool a car engine. The whole layout, construction and what not looks to be really good. Conservative clocks though, this should do 1ghz core easy.
