ECS is jumping the USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/s bandwagon with two PCI-Express expansion cards for each kind of connectivity. The cards use popular controllers NEC µPD720200 for USB 3.0 and Marvell 88SE9123-NAA2 for SATA 6 Gb/s. While the USB 3.0 card provides both its ports on the rear-panel, the SATA 6 Gb/s card holds one internal SATA 6 Gb/s port, and one eSATA 6 Gb/s. Currently there is no word on the availability or price of the two. These cards follow similar offerings from the likes of ASRock and ASUS.

The card is still in 1x PCIE format, will it not limit its performance?

I know that pci-e x1 was originally limited to 500MB/s. but I am sure that has improved since pci-e versions 1.1, 2.0, etc.

1.0/1.1 is 250MB/s each way, 2.0 is 500MB/s each way

with ~300MB/s for USB 3.0 and 600MB/s for SATA III, yeah - limitations will be hit.

but hey, its a good start :) (especially for the USB side of things)

the one by the other brand, used sata power.

at a guess, USB 3.0 allows some serious wattage

ideally 4x PCIE will be good, 1x theorical limit is 2.5gbps which its never going to achieve.

At first glance I thought! How cool the second one, USB an SATA III in the same addon. :P

Not enough ports, plain and simple.

to slow bus, btw one SATA 6Gbps 2-port can should be able do drive a SATA 6Gbps SSD at around 500 MB/s read/write

Wont most USB 3.0 require additional Voltage? How much power can it output? 2.0 gave 5V, let me do some research.

2.0 did 5V at 500ma

3.0 does 5V as well, at 900ma according to a few posts up
