Transcend Officially Introduces SSD720

Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend), a worldwide leader in storage and multimedia products, is proud to showcase the extraordinary performance capabilities and new higher capacity of the next generation SATA III 6Gb/s SSD720 solid state drive (SSD). Built with industry-leading 24nm toggle-mode MLC NAND flash chips and now available in extra-large capacities up to 512GB, an SSD720-equipped computer boots-up faster, games run more smoothly, and overall system responsiveness is improved.

Taking full advantage of the latest SATA III 6Gb/s specification and driven by a powerful SandForce controller, the SSD720 boasts impressive sequential read/write transfer speeds of up to 560MB/540MB per second and lightning-fast 4k random file writes up to 86,000 IOPS. This exceptional performance translates into ultra low response times, launching heavy graphics applications, such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere CS5, and AutoCAD 2011, in under three seconds. Completing file operations at least three times faster and providing ultra-low access latencies by avoiding platter seek time, the SSD720 is the ideal drop-in replacement for standard rotating hard drives (HDDs).
To meet the demands of storage-intensive computing and further iterate the benefits of SSDs as an alternative to HDDs, Transcend's SSD720 is now available in 512GB capacity, large enough to store operating systems, applications and more. Enclosed in a super-thin 7mm tough yet lightweight metal case, the SSD720 contains no moving parts to offer very low power consumption and incredible resistance to shock and vibration. These features combine to provide cool, noiseless operation, high reliability, increased efficiency, and longer battery runtime to high-end Ultrabooks, netbooks, and notebooks.

Aside from incredible performance and vast capacity, the SSD720 supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ), which optimizes the execution of received read and write commands. To help maintain optimum write speeds and prevent long-term SSD wear, support for TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. functions, as well as Error Correction Code (ECC) and advanced wear-leveling technology guarantees ultra-long lifespan and data-retention durability. Offering outstanding reliability and backwards compatibility with SATA II (3Gb/s) and SATA I (1.5Gb/s) connection options, Transcend's SATA III 6Gb/s SSD720 meets the future needs of the burgeoning market for high speed, lightweight low-power SSDs.

Transcend's SSD720 is available for 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities, and backed by a three-year warranty.

I wish Transcend would get back on top with their memory line first before furthering their venture into SSDs. I miss the good ole days when their aXeRAM was king :(

well, the memory market doesnt have space for 3 leaders. We already havae G.Skill getting the max share, followed by corsair and its followers. That leaves very little room for other companies to fight in the performance market. Specially since most of the chips they use are actually made by other sub companies.

If the SSD market had the same kind of fierce competition the RAM market does.. I bet we'd be seeing a lot more performance per dollar. Hooray for Transcend!
