Amped Wireless Introduces the APA20 Long Range 802.11ac Wi-Fi Access Point

Amped Wireless, the leading manufacturer of high power, long range wireless communication products for the home and office, today announced the launch of the APA20 High Power 700 milliwatts (mW) Dual Band AC Access Point, a versatile wireless access point designed to deliver powerful, long range, ultra-fast wireless access for existing home and business networks.

A high power 700 mW dual band, 802.11ac Wi-Fi access point, the APA20 features three high gain, 5dBi antennas and ten total power amplifiers. The amplifiers include two 2.4 GHz 700 mW amplifiers, four 5.0 GHz 700 mW, 2-Stage amplifiers, and four advanced, low noise amplifiers. The cutting-edge technology packed into the APA20 gives it the ability to stream high-quality media at faster speeds to multiple devices at once, with ease.

The APA20 includes a USB port for file sharing and five gigabit wired ports for connecting to a broadband network and attaching additional wired devices. The APA20 includes an updated user interface, premium software features such as guest networks, adjustable Wi-Fi coverage control and user access control.

Advanced software allows the APA20 to automatically configure itself to a network's settings without the user's input or configuration. The APA20 simply connects to the router's network port, automatically configures itself and creates a new wireless and wired network for connecting wired or wireless computers, printers and other networked devices.

"By combining our award winning high power technology with the horsepower of 802.11ac, we are able to offer business and home users the ability to easily upgrade their networks to the fastest Wi-Fi technology with the most Wi-Fi coverage," said Jason Owen, CEO of Amped Wireless. "With our innovative Plug-and-Play setup, adding long range 802.11ac Wi-Fi is as easy as plugging our access point into any router."

All Amped Wireless products include Wi-Fi Analytic Tool Apps that provide advanced software application for Android and Windows devices in order to assist in analyzing and optimizing Wi-Fi networks for maximum speed and coverage. All Amped Wireless products are backed by industry leading, US based, in-house technical support provided by Amped Concierges.

The APA20 has a retail price of $189.99 and is available for pre-order from the Amped Wireless store and will ship to customers October 29th. It will be available at major brick & mortar retailers and online retailers in early November. For more information and purchasing, visit: http://www.ampedwireless.com/products/apa20.html.

all this "long-range" talk yet no specifics such as: up to 100feet, optimal within 50ft. or something like that. it's what i've always hated when going to purchase a router, they use pictures which tell you absolutely nothing except when comparing which router is better. Granted that can't gaurantee anything because households are different, but for the most part its dry wall with wood, or all wood.

Will we ever get some specifics or 'roundabouts' on area coverage from these things :banghead:

I agree that generic phrases like "long range" are pointless. The problem is that the range completely depends on the client and the client's antenna implementation. You could state a specific client in the tests, but then each manufacturer would use a different client and the comparison would be no more useful.

As usual it will be up to the reviewers to determine if "long range" means anything.
