NVIDIA New GTX 1080 Cooler Shroud Design Confirmed

It looks like the over-the-top, edgy design of the reference-design cooler of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, which was extensively pictured, is real. Pictures of the aluminium cooler shroud first surfaced in April, when a CNC mill worker leaked pictures of two cooler shrouds fresh out of a machine. A render of this design formed the background image of GeForce website since its most recent update, announcing today's Livestream of the NVIDIA GeForce "Pascal" launch event.

heh I would say firstly it looks like something modern day lamborghini designed.
Secondly I find it more like the new transformer movies, the old was more square, the new is a mess of angles.

but eh, its but a cooler, if it works it works I guess.

I'm not going to complain about reference cooler much, I usually buy something with a custom cooler.

That said, I really hope MSI ditch their red dragon design for the next Twin Frozr. Their Twin Frozr II and III were much better looking than what they have now.

Yeah...it's fugly. I'm a much bigger fan of AMD industrial design for their cards.

And metal, unlike the plastic currently in use!

Why is a stock cooler a newsworthy item?

you people need to get your sh*t straight, having a shroud shaped like a racing car clearly makes the card go fast, cant you see how much faster it is than the previous generation? with future driver updates it will also have flames (decals) that will make it go even faster!
also, im 12 and enjoy spending a months pay on a sidegrade

Clearly some care, if you dont then why reply? is it filling your inbox or something?
I mean lets be honest, 99% of the news out there probably does not interest you.

Actually I like the design.
Not sure about the quality of the turbine fan thou. From all the cards I had with that kind of fan, all of them were noisy under load and get warm pretty fast.

Forum rules dictate posts need to be made in English please.

Also, as a side note, y'all need to calm the hell down. I'm getting alerts out the wazoo for reported posts that do not need reporting.

It's a sodding stock cooler. Calm yourselves.

Or, do nothing about it and let this place continue to degrade into OCN... good call. I dont care if I get an infraction or a ban (as I did insult in kind)... but you can't let that kind of asshatery rule this place.

The news here isn't really news 90% of the time. I don't see how this is suddenly breaking news in and of itself...

As far as the cooler goes... meh. I'm going to go click on another article.

I think you and half the world hope for that, that would be great but I am not holding my breath.

I am with you, I like the changes as the old cooler was getting a little boring and the edginess is something I can dig (Then again though I like weird designs).

Yea, most coolers now do use a lot more plastic than in the past which does sometimes make them look cheap. I don't think that trend will end anytime soon...

Well, its a decent looking cooler to me. I am interested if it offers any improvements over the previous reference cooler!

Please let us do our jobs. As to the OCN reference, I believe we have more control over here and the moderation staff are more mature and civil.

So to echo what @RCoon just said.....calm down, we're getting too excited over a cooler shroud:slap:

It looks like Mythbusters tried to vacuum crush the cooler from the inside.

It is a wee bit shit looking IMO. But then again, I can't recall the last stock cooler I had that I didn't bang a block on... Well, I can. it was a Radeon HD 5850.

I think most people are getting tired with (mostly) the same default design since 20 years ago. I mean, seriously, how expensive those dual or triple fan cooling solutions can be compared to the stock one??
I mean even 3DFx's VooDoo5 cooling solution was better :))))) (j/k)
