QNAP Partners with AMD On TVS-x73 NAS

QNAP Systems, Inc. have partnered with AMD, announcing the release and immediate availability (with pricing details yet to come) of the high-performance TVS-x73 NAS series. Packing an AMD Embedded RX-421BD quad-core APU (2.1 GHz base, 3.4 GHz boost), up to 64GB DDR4 RAM, AES-NI hardware encryption engine, two M.2 SATA 6Gb/s SSD slots capable of delivering up to 1,172 MB/s throughput (which can benefit from Qtier Technology to optimize storage efficiency across M.2 SSDs, SATA SSDs and HDDs), SSD cache, USB 3.1 (10Gbps), 10GbE expandability, dual HDMI output, and hardware-assisted 4K video decoding and encoding acceleration.

Built with a state-of-the-art metal design and topped off with a stylish gold finish, the business-class TVS-x73 series is available in 4 (TVS-473), 6 (TVS-673), and 8-bay (TVS-873) models, all of which support four Gigabit LAN. Two PCIe slots are available for greater system flexibility. One is pre-installed with a dual-port USB 3.1 Type-A card and the other allows for an optional QNAP dual-port 10GbE (10GBASE-T or SFP+) network card. The 10GbE-enabled TVS-x73 fully satisfies businesses that demand higher bandwidth for virtualization and fast backup and restoration for an ever-growing amount of data.
The TVS-x73 series features AMD 3rd Gen GCN architecture with breakthrough GPU performance to support 4K H.264 video decoding and stunning 4K UHD display, ideal for applications for media storage and playback. With dual HDMI output and a bundled remote control, the TVS-x73 provides users with an ideal base for an optimum audiovisual experience.

The TVS-x73 series supports QNAP's proprietary USB QuickAccess technology for direct connection to computers via USB, offering great plug-and-use convenience to access files stored on the NAS with up to 100 MB/s throughput. Users can quickly complete the first-time NAS installation and then directly access NAS files in everyday use, enjoying an easy-to-use NAS packed with performance and functionality.

Running on the next-generation 64-bit QTS 4.3 operating system, the TVS-x73 series offers numerous brand-new applications: QmailAgent for centralizing multiple email accounts and simplifying daily email management; Qcontactz for centrally storing and managing contacts; Qfiling for automating file organization; and QButton for initializing simple IoT applications with QNAP apps and the included remote control.

The business-ready TVS-x73 is a comprehensive storage solution for data storage, backup, sharing and centralized management, supporting Windows and Mac desktop/laptop backup, RTRR (Real-Time Remote Replication) with backup versioning, rsync and backup to cloud storage as well as file sharing across Windows, Mac and Linux/UNIX. The powerful Qsirch full-text searching tool helps quickly find files on the NAS, and Qsync provides multiple ways for file synchronization and group file sharing to greatly enhance the flexibility of team projects and collaboration. Virtualization Station allows users to host Windows, Linux, UNIX and Android based virtual machines on the NAS; Container Station integrates LXC and Docker lightweight virtualization technologies. The TVS-x73 series also supports VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server 2012 R2 to assist in flexibly deploying and managing virtualization environments.

The TVS-x73's storage capacity can be scaled up by connecting up to two QNAP expansion enclosures (UX-800P and UX-500P). The storage capacity can also be enlarged by using the VJBOD feature that allows the storage capacity of other QNAP NAS to be used as virtual disks that can be mounted as local disks for shares, applications, or even creating another LUN.
