EK Announces Classic Water Block for Radeon RX 6800, 6800 XT, & 6900 Graphics Cards

EK Water Blocks, the leading computer cooling solutions provider, is ready to offer a new Classic line GPU water block for graphics cards based on the latest AMD RDNA2 architecture. It fits most reference PCB designs of the Radeon RX 6800, RX 6800XT, and RX 6900 GPUs. Minimalistic design with fewer details makes this EK-Classic Line water block more affordable while still offering all the qualities of an EK product, such as high performance, excellent customer support, and a comprehensive installation manual.

The EK-Classic GPU Water Block RX 6800/6900 D-RGB directly cools the GPU, VRAM, and the VRM (voltage regulation module) as a cooling liquid is channeled right over these critical areas. The water block is in contact with power stages as well as Inductor chokes to maximize cooling and minimize the chances of coil whine. It boasts some new features, already previously introduced in the EK's Quantum line, such as the optimized flow paths that reduce hydrodynamic instabilities and vortexing (dead spots) inside of them.
The base of the block is CNC-machined out of high-grade nickel-plated electrolytic copper, while its top is CNC-machined out of glass-like cast Acrylic. The watertight sealing is ensured by high-quality EPDM O-rings, while brass standoffs are already pre-installed and allow for a safe and easy installation procedure.

woah! "only" $160 for block and plate? what happened? no one paying $230+ for the strix/ftw3/trio blocks??? did people stop buying their over priced garbage and force them to fix their prices?

i was surprised about price tag too :) after seeing rtx "blocks" prices 170++

i remember old days when get block for r9 290, for around 80 or 90 quid, today's price tag, turns me over for cheaper brands ;)

I own 6800XT EK Quantum Vector and really happy with it.
I have the Quantum Vector already since November last year.

I have a really great 6800XT card that OCs quite good and temperature are really great.
In games junction temperatures in range of 54°C.
In stress tests like Port Royal maximum junction of 75°C.
With original cooler the junction temps were hitting 95°C in OCed stress tests.

I like the Clasic version though and had it on Vega 64 and Radeon VII.
I was not sure if they will ever release one for 6800XT reference cards as these cards are really rare to find.
Custom cards seems to be more often produced.

Alphacool is selling rgb nickel/acrylic blocks for $145 WITH a back plate, even for custom cards like strix. EK prices are without back plates.

Yes the good thing about Alphacool is that they also make blocks for custom cards.

I pre-ordered one of the Alphacool blocks for 6900XT Red Devil, but now I cancelled the pre-order because I am not keeping 6900XT and rather keep my water cooled 6800XT.
My 6800XT is greater Ocing card but the Red Devil 6900XT turned out to be disappointment with only 4-5% being faster than my 6800XT under OC while consuming 64W more to achieve this small lead.
I was expecting much better because 6900XT under OC could achieve similar clock settings as 6800XT but delivered only 5% higher performance and needed 380W GPU core power and 384A TDC compared to 6800XT with 316W core power and 310A TDC. :p

One thing I miss with Alphacool is that they usually don't include single slot bracket with block kit. :(
With watercooling I don't need my card to be dual slot. :p

I had also in the past many fittings from Alphacool but unfortunately there I was not satisfied with the quality and were replaced later with other brands especially many from EK.
Maybe nowdays Alphacool fitting also got better, the ones I mentioned were bought back in 2014 and used until around 2016.
That was my first ever full water loop and since then all my computers has been in full loop.
Those days the paint quality on these Alphacool fittings was not that great which made me regret buying them but they were much cheaper at that time compared to other brands.
I still own these but they are sitting in the closet. :D
