Lenovo Legion Launches Four New Gaming Notebooks at CES

From its inception, Lenovo Legion wanted to make the modern gaming experience immersive, as well as more inclusive. At CES 2022, Lenovo Legion once again delivers on its pursuit of unyielding play and productivity to gamers of every generation and content creators, who can now all universally enjoy premium entertainment and play from home battle stations, dorms, esports arenas - or practically anywhere, and look good doing it too.

Lenovo's first batch of 2022 battle-ready PCs, monitors, accessories and gamer-focused software and services unveiled today, which include the powerful 16-inch Lenovo Legion 5i Pro and Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptops and the polished 15-inch Lenovo Legion 5i and Lenovo Legion 5 laptops. The new gaming laptops come available with Windows 11 gaming performance, next-gen AMD Ryzen processors, or latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors and up to latest fully powered NVIDIA GeForce RTX Laptop GPUs. Inspired by gamer research, these new devices celebrate 'magical minimalism' design and denote a leap towards a contemporary aesthetic with purposeful detailing like an uncluttered wordmark, expressive venting, and immersive lighting. A top-placed camera bump with eShutter kill switch and rear port protection convey a sleek look of power and performance that helps to create a more inclusive experience focused on player enjoyment and winning, not labels. Paired with exclusives beloved by Legion fans such as the advanced thermals of next-level Legion Coldfront 4.0, the hair-trigger speeds and improved ergonomics of Legion TrueStrike keyboard, and optimized tuning via Lenovo Vantage for gaming.
Rounding out this impressive lineup is the low-latency and stylish Lenovo Legion Y25-30 Monitor for serious gamers looking for an edge, and two more Eyesafe certified monitors, the Lenovo G27qe-20 and Lenovo G24qe-20, offering entry-level players natural low blue light and sharp versatility. With such expertly-crafted gaming machines bringing max performance to esports, it's no wonder Lenovo Legion is the official PC and monitor for the Apex Legends Global Series. Still, even the best hardware can be made better with the right software; introducing Legion Arena, the new on-device application from Lenovo that's giving gamers an easy way to consolidate owned games from multiple platforms into one location as they search, launch and play games from across their entire library.

This is all part of Lenovo's brighter vision of creating an ecosystem of smarter Lenovo Legion technology, engaging services, and connected software solutions with competitive gameplay at its heart, because when every second counts, it's the experience that matters most.

Most in-depth reviews of the 2020 and 2021 Legion 5 models put them as flexy creaky plastic things with undesirable materials quality and very noisy fans indeed.

That's a shame, because the styling of them is better than most garish gamer laptops.

The Pro models are definitely okay as they have alloy shells but still no magnesium frame or anything resembling actual structural reinforcement.

Lenovo's always had this issue of cheaping out on the materials for some dumb reason. My L series from 2014 had a similar issue, lid eventually cracked from the stress of being opened! It's a real shame, their design is pretty good, but the quality isnt up to par.

Dont need those shitbooks.

I had a few Gaming notebooks and they had:
Cpu socket
MXM GPU
2-4 Slots for RAM
replaceable Battery
2 Sata ports
Optical Drive Bay, optional u can use a 3rd SSD/HDD

But after that and the Notebooks had even more and more soldered shit and lower connectivity, i bought only Normal Notebooks.

My Notebook ATM with an A4 4300M with IGP and a dedicated HD 7670M it is more powerfull than some I3, I5, I7 or Ryzen ones with maybe 8 or 16GB soldered RAM,
yeah the A4 is slow but i can work with em via Solidworks cause it have 32GB RAM and a good GPU for Compute.

In the end, my A4 with GPU support can do very compexity things via Solidworks, while ure I7 8Cores with soldered 16GB will crash to desktop.
my last work on Solidworks took about 26GB of RAM. :p

tbf the only reason why we had CPU sockets in gaming laptops in the first place cause the mobile chips were also socketed. Amd and intel no longer make said socketable mobile cpus. Mxm, yeah it's so niche and wasn't necessarily directly buyable that it was the least used feature that I've seen.

That is a plus and agreed.

However, I would love to see a 19" or 20" laptop that has normal specs otherwise and at a reasonable price. A lot of people want desktop replacement type units that don't break the bank.

Legion 5 is not any worse than competitor, in fact it's a pretty solid choice.

The problem is customer shouldn't ask for top hardware in this segment. The legion 7 pro is more appropriate for more than a 5800 and a 3070
