Moondrop Introduces Alice—Latest Flagship Bluetooth V5.2 TWS Earphones

Moondrop Alice is a newly-developed ground-breaking TWS set of earphones that optimizes the driver performance, SoC output, and DSP filter adjustment to ensure the highest-quality audio performance possible from a TWS earphone. Moondrop is referring it as their flagship pair of wireless TWS earphones that are designed to deliver a true flagship-grade audio performance. Alice adopts a ULT super linear dynamic driver with a third-generation diamond-like composite diaphragm coil. The pair has been tuned based on Moondrop's famous "VDSF" Target response. It has 10 different tuning profiles, professional parametric equalizer settings, and many more advanced features for a flagship-like premium experience with the set. Moondrop Alice is launched officially for $189.99, you can check out more information on our store page here.

Moondrop has equipped Alice with Qualcomm's latest QCC5151 Bluetooth chipset. It brings high-res aptX Adaptive high-bitrate wireless transmission protocol. This brings the latest Bluetooth connectivity with a stable, lag-free connection to the source devices. QCC5151 also supports built-in DSP profiles for easy tuning profiles for the users. ALICE is designed using the same ULT (Ultra-Linear)Dynamic Driver unit that they have previously featured on their flagship Kato IEMs. It's a custom-designed dynamic driver with efficient internal and external magnetic circuits, a more linear airflow structure, a large internal acoustic cavity, a high-frequency phase waveguide system, and an ultra-fine imported CCAW Voice coil. This driver uses a high-quality DLC (diamond-like carbon) composite diaphragm for unmatched sound performance.
Moondrop Alice comes equipped with the new generation of VDSF+(Virtual Diffusion Sound Field Technology) that further improves its sound performance by simulating the differences of direct sound at the end of the acoustic transmission path. The VDSF+ tech can be turned on/off easily whenever required. With their years of experience in designing premium IEMs, Moondrop has designed the Alice with the same integrated Acoustic cavity structure as their premium HiFi wired IEMs. The driver unit and its related acoustic structures have priority over the component and battery stacks. Unlike traditional TWS earphones, the Moondrop Alice is designed to compete with other wired in terms of pure sound performance!

Moondrop Alice is fully compatible with the new Moondrop Link application on your smartphone. It allows you to adjust different settings on the Alice including 10 kinds of different tuning profiles, etc. It also supports parametric EQ functions using the Moondrop Link application. Alice relies on dual microphones and utilizes the built-in ENC noise-cancellation of the QCC5151 Bluetooth chipset. The dual microphones on each side collect environmental noises and voices and deliver a clearer calling experience for its users. Moondrop Alice provides its users with long battery life. Once fully charged, users will be able to enjoy continuous music playback for up to 8 hours. Charging case increases it to up to 40 hours. Moondrop Alice is designed specially to bring a convenient TWS with top-quality sound performance!

well, nice specs but not my teacup for the design.

now if only they would restock the Nekocake Acht Acht 88mm Flak36 limited edition ... (what?) from Ash Arms i would gladly add them to my collection ... (even tho i am not particularly fond of the "stem" design TWS, still want them  )

"limited edition" is limited? oh...

okay.

(well, they were 134chf while the standard Nekocake black and white were 44chf ... )

Hmm, freq response curve is oddly similar to @VSG one. Apart from the 20Hz region maybe?

Well it's based on the KATO driver that's tuned very close to my target too. Needless to say I'm excited to get this in for review.

Nowadays it seems almost everything is KATO/CCAW... Not that it's bad per se; more like not anything hardly exciting gets released.

On the other hand it shows us how much different sounding can be obtained from the same driver with slight tuning. Can you imagine how insane the tolerances are!?!?!

I hope this gets remotely close to the Kato at least in tuning and/or technicalities. Heard some people go "a bit sus" on the waifu art, and personally I couldn't care less about a girl on a box as I don't get any feeling of joy out of that, or feeling at all, but $189 is giving it a pretty good chance here, given the only thing in my market that could compete with that price-wise are the Buds2, or perhaps the older gen WF-1000XM3.
