SPEED-LINK Swordplay Kit for Nintendo® Wii™

Weertzen, May 2007 - Whether you're a pirate in the Caribbean or a knight of the round table: with this scimitar, sword and shield set from SPEED-LINK, sword fights will turn into a real experience.
Heroic sword fights and battles with pirates are simply more fun.

With a sword in your hand, games like 'Pirates Of The Caribbean - At The World's End' or 'Prince Of Persia - Rival Sword' take on a new quality. Movements become more realistic and battles become even more enjoyable when fighting using the combination of the sword and shield. At the same time, the dragon design of the shield and the dark design of the sword and scimitar provide the right look.

Simple to use

The Wii Remote simply clicks into the sword or scimitar and sits securely in the slot. There is a mount on the back of the shield for the Wii Nunchuk. The Remote strap provides an even more secure feeling.

The SPEED-LINK Swordplay Kit for the Nintendo Wii will be available from the end of June 2007 for the RRP of €24.99.

Rofl...yes.

However, with the uniqueness of the Wii to immerse oneself into the game, I think this is a clever and nifty idea. The thought of having your own sword and shield set so you can play and pretend like your an ancient knight or the Prince of Persia kicking some massive butt! That is simply awesome.

I love how the Wii has changed the way games can be played.

I'm yet to see how clever the Wii is and how it can change the way we play games. The controller is extremely quirky, and extremely imprecise. Games like Cooking Mama and Wario Ware piss me off so much when it says I did something wrong when I didn't. IMO, a mouse is much cooler than the wiimote - and if you've ever played Die By The Sword, you'd agree.

The wiimote's gyroscopes really arent accurate enough to translate smooth movement onto the screen. Anyone who's played Wii sports for more than 15 min knows this.

The IR pointer is pretty good, but has a bit of delay time.

if there was ever such thing as a white poop, then the Wii and Ipod to some would be a one of them... thinking about it the xbox 360 is white too. Ahh heck add it to the list as well.

::shrug:: well hell, either you like the Wii or you dont. I agree the gyroscopes need to be a little more accurate. It doesnt keep up to well with fast paced movements.

This is why games are designed to not rely on precise movement, a la zelda. ;)

Exactly, it's a design flaw but it's something which can be easily worked around. Something like Unreal Tournament or Quake wouldn't work well on the wii at all because of the required precision and speed, but if you slow down the necessary movements a little or add a little autoaim, or maybe just make all the fast movement in the buttons and joystick, then you should be fine.

While this seems like a cool idea, what games actually use the remote as a sword? I'm guessing there at least some coming with a product like this, but even in games like zelda this doesn't really match up with the movements.

yeah, most things can be compensated for pretty well.

If they do that I would have no choice but to buy the game. Star Wars on Wii has the potential to :nutkick: almost every other game.

Talking of Star Wars games, KOTOR II was amazing, I wish they would make a new one.

Edit: In fact, KOTOR II may be one of my favourite games ever. Never played the first one.

Meh, the movements just aren't realistic enough for something like this, i mean in zelda all you did was twitch the controller left and right, you didn't swing it or anything >_>

I bought it for teh gamecube (i played the wii version at my friends) and it was a LOT easier to play on gamecube then wii, the controls were simply too imprecise and unrealistic. It didn't give me that cool awesome feel that so many people claim the wii gives them.

And it makes me laugh that they make something like this, it makes no difference what so ever, it just makes your wii mote look different, a pretty useless product imo :/

I absolutely love the zelda controls. It makes that game so much fun!

Some people want "realistic". others want "fun".

I'm in the fun catagory.

You could be tipping cows by running in a hamster wheel, but If its fun, I don't really care! :rockout:

As for useless products... well... I bet you own video games too.

I disagree. I was totally against the Wii, but after getting one, I now realise what great fun, family consoles they really are. It may not have the power of the 360 (which I also own) but it is a great little machine!
