Crytek Has No Plans to Further Patch Crysis

I'm afraid I have some bad news to report today. It appears that Crytek has no plans releasing future Crysis updates, at least for now. The current patch version 1.2+1.21 hotfix will remain also the last one to be released for Crysis.
So, What About Patch 1.3?
At this time, there almost certainly will not be a patch 1.3 delivered for Crysis. We are aware that this news will disappoint many of you, and we would like to apologize profusely. There is a good reason for this and we hope you understand when you hear more about the reasons why in the very, very near future. Please realize this was an extremely difficult decision, but please do know that we are listening to your comments and are making more consistent community support a high priority.

I'm sure many are thrilled by this decision and are willing to just move on to buying part 2 of this game :shadedshu

I'm actually pretty surprised about this. Being that Crysis was supposed to be a big budget game and a headliner for dx10. For them to be dropping it so soon..

No sense beating a dead horse. They can only improve Crysis so much until it just gets repetitive. That engine is just too demanding to begin with. The new gfx cards should be able to handle it well but I hope they on't get any bright ideas with Farcry 2.

Bad sales, financial issues for them?
Either way, such a hyped game and already cutting down on support, that's never good for a company.

even more surprised, as Crytek truly seemed to want to address any issues with the engine and turn this into a "buffed&polished" product . . . I'm kinda shocked.

I guess we us ATI owners won't be seeing any performance improvements through patches - gotta rely on CAT releases 100% now :(

The engine is a coding nightmare...hopefully they will fix it so that when the bring out the next in the series it will be much more efficient.

I see no reason to drop the engine, it's fantastic, it just needs to be put on a food-free diet...

FarCry 2 is being made by Ubisoft (Montreal) not Crytek.

I tried the demo. It was okay. Didn't buy the full game.

They are dropping the title because they "cant be bothered". They have moved "all resources" to other titles, incl. console.

Quite honestly, Crytek deserve to go bust IMO.

1./ Rubbish demo. I tried it. It was such a let down, i CHOSE not to buy the game. Choosing not to buy the game is very very different from blaming piracy. I certainly didnt pirate it.

2./ The price was too high. Do they really expect gazzillions of sales at that price? Remember FarCry. That was a bargain even at launch.

3./ The price is STILL HIGH. WTF? If you cant sell it, reduce the price to a point where people who didnt buy it yet, might be interested.

Greedy developers. That's all I can say.

I'm pleased they are feeling the pinch.

I personally regret buying Crysis. Poor performance coupled with uninspiring graphics give a sub-par gaming experience. I'm sure that Crytek has realized this and is ditching Crysis in favor of Far Cry 2 like Microsoft to Vista.

$50 for 10 hours of solo gaming and a pathetic online experience?

I blame EA for this one - I'm sure the reason the price is still through the roof is that the game didn't sell as well as EA had hoped, considering all the hype, and are trying to recoup some losses off of it.

You can't patch away the rest of the shitty game after you enter the alien thingy-ma-bob. It wasn't great before that point, but I was enjoying it (why is killing asians in a FPS so fun?).
I thought the graphiics were good, of course, and it ran reasonably well (high settings) on my O/Ced 8800GT... for the first half of the game. With all of the shadows and vegetation, I was fine with the performance (smooth almost the whole time). It was until I entered the frozen jungle and especially on that forsaken POS carrier lol. Framerate was so low on that carrier at times, it made be thoroughly disgusted. Seriously, the carrier wasn't even detailed. I know they rushed the end of that game b/c it was lame and had abysmal perf.

edit: I really have to learn how to type with correct grammar haha. Most of it's fixed, I think :)

No crap, the end sucked. The part where the alien war ship or whatever that thing was sucked, It took me like a minute to beat it, the spider thing took me like a half hour. What kind of final boss dies in less than a minute?
btw, ditto on the aircraft carrier's fps dropping.

I did notice that the game kinda fell apart during the last 1/3'rd of it..:wtf:..before that it was great..:D..After that it seems almost like the guys making it got VERY impatient or just lost enterest...:shadedshu

Everyone keeps waiting for a patch that will tramendously increase performance. But that is not going to happen. The most we would see is a few percentage points, and most of the fixes are for bugs which, through having played the game twice already, are barely existant.

Which is why you have to tweak the POS yourself to get any respectable results, although I know most of us aren't so technically inclined. Even I didn't want to get my hands dirty with that GD cvars.

So much for them saying that they will continually update the game as new hardware becomes available ,so adding new and currently unseen effects/features etc to it ,as todays hardware doesnt make the cut, mightve known is was pure BS in order to gain sales..

Glad i didnt bother buying it tbh,Far Cry was a much better product imho.

Lazy asses.. Oh well I actually want Crysis 2. I liked the story of Crysis, specially after I went Intel Nvidia since I can play it with 40fps! I think its a great game its just terribly optimized.

I think there was an aniversary special where Crytek/ubisoft/whoever put the ISO image up on their website free for all to download. &im not talking about torrents either. it was the actual ISO file off the official site. this was a while back. not sure when it was exactly but i remember spending ages downloading it then burning it onto CD/DVD

I downloaded the in-game ads version. I'm not sure if its still around but its 100% free if you cant deal with menu ads and short commercials on the first loading screen.
