Up to SP2 released within the 'first year'? Wow;

1./ It's great that MS is so responsive to fixing stuff, but
2./ SP2 needed so soon? Must have been pretty broke on launch.

Windows 2003 is still on SP2. They really need to get SP3 out to deal with all the rollups in the last year or two. But SP2 over 5 years vs. SP2 over 1 year. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

2008 SP1 doesn't exist, release version was called SP1 so it wouldn't be confusing next to Vista. This will be the first service pack, named SP2.

Oh. Now THAT'S confusing! :rolleyes:

Has MS now standardised SP across Vista and W2K8? So it's the same SP for either, unlike previous where there were separate "service pack paths" for separate OS's even if on similar kernels?

They're mostly the same anyway, but I doubt they'll be the same download.

Also the "previous" you're speaking of only applies to XP/2003. NT4 and 2000 had the same service packs as their server editions. I guess they want to go back to that.
