The AMD A4-5000 was a mobile processor with 4 cores, launched in May 2013. It is part of the A4 lineup, using the Kabini architecture with Socket FT3. A4-5000 has 2 MB of L2 cache and operates at 1500 MHz. AMD is making the A4-5000 on a 28 nm production node, the transistor count is unknown. The silicon die of the chip is not fabricated at AMD, but at the foundry of GlobalFoundries. The multiplier is locked on A4-5000, which limits its overclocking potential. With a TDP of 15 W, the A4-5000 consumes very little energy. AMD's processor supports DDR3 memory with a single-channel interface. The highest officially supported memory speed is 1600 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. For communication with other components in the computer, A4-5000 uses a PCI-Express Gen 2 connection. This processor features the Radeon HD 8330 integrated graphics solution. Hardware virtualization is available on the A4-5000, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) can run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications.
