The Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 was a mobile processor with 2 cores, launched in December 2008, at an MSRP of $241. It is part of the Core 2 Duo lineup, using the Penryn architecture with Socket P. Core 2 Duo P8700 has 3 MB of L2 cache and operates at 2.533 GHz. Intel is making the Core 2 Duo P8700 on a 45 nm production node using 274 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Core 2 Duo P8700, which limits its overclocking potential.
With a TDP of 25 W, the Core 2 Duo P8700 consumes only little energy. Intel's processor supports DDR2 and DDR3 memory with a dual-channel interface. For communication with other components in the system, Core 2 Duo P8700 uses a PCI-Express N/A connection.
