The AMD Opteron 246 HE was a server/workstation processor with 1 core, launched in March 2005. It is part of the Opteron lineup, using the Troy (E4) architecture with Socket 940. To further increase overall system performance, up to two Opteron 246 HE CPUs can link up in a multi-processor (SMP) configuration. Opteron 246 HE has 1 MB of L2 cache and operates at 2000 MHz. AMD is building the Opteron 246 HE on a 90 nm production process using 106 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Opteron 246 HE, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
