I think hold out for those, assuming they'll be a good price since they have high yields. I think anything below 1600MHz, if going DDR3, isn't worth it.

Actually he's right. AMD's mobos can take newer socket CPUs than their own socket, but never older. Unless I'm mistaken too. :roll:

I wouldn't go higher than 115.

Well I sprung for a 5870 today

love the card so far but its in a way underpowered box, can't wait to get it in my i7 rig

so far only that its loud if you crank up the fan, it's really good about being quiet on auto and temps are about 75 degrees in vantage. but I force about 60% fan which is already about 3300 rpm and that's the noisiest past of the pc hands down. but better temps naturally.

I tried that too and I really wasn't prepared for the noise, it blew me away :laugh:

but really it sounds awesome winding up IMO.

EDIT: whats the best way to increase voltage on this baby? 1.3v here I come.

I'm having big issues with it TBH, I thought i'd love it but on 3 of my builds it causes black screen crashes

I set my fan speed to 45% and it never goes above 65 degrees.
What case airflow do u have?

Antec 902, ill lower to 45% on your advice actually, see how it goes

I'm thinking more and more about going i7.
I wish AMD would dominate again with their CPUs.

With Afterburner, flash the card with an Asus bios.
That will unlock the OC limit in both CCC and Afterbruner. :toast:

anyone here w/ an e8400 or similar own the card? I'm hoping I'll see huge gains in FPS when i upgrade from a 4850 to 5850. Hopefully My cpu won't bottleneck GTA IV, crysis, NFS shift etc.

i7 is bloddy powerful, but for gaming a PII does just fine.

1.35v equated to 1ghz core pretty darn easily.

1ghz/1250 is what im benching at now, without screenies some preliminary numbers

vantage; P19,5XX no physx
3d-o6; 25,5XX
SF4; 1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF max all - 159.XX FPS

Fanspeeds is back to constantly forced 60% for 1ghz with more vcore, temps still holding in mid to low 70's when hardcore benching, which I'm very impressed about. Hec with a boosted fan this thing blows cold air out its ass if 2D mode.

Yeah HT but 4.2ghz at the moment, I have always felt my i7's scores a bit lacking tho, even when clocked equally.

EDIT: also did Vantage with physx (thank you hack) up over P20,5XX now.
