You can do this in BF3 too, its fun sneaking behind and burning somebody to death with the repair tool!

Damn, I've been playing BF3 all wrong this past year. :shadedshu

Anybody else dual screened the "Battlescreen" on battlelog while playing?

Not sure how useful it is, but I like the novelty of having the full map on my second screen.

Well I tried and it didn't really seem to be fully implemented yet. How are you doing it exactly? I used "Battle Screen" minimap view in BattleLog which I moved over the secondary display but once went back to full screen 3D the other monitor goes dark. Am I missing or doing something dumb?

Any fix for the DirectX crash yet? Happens to me constantly. Latest Beta nVidia drivers, DirectX is up to date. Googling has done nothing.

I don't know, my secondary screen never goes black, but I haven't tried the battle screen. I'll give it a shot and report back.

Oh ok. This is the first time I'm trying to use one on my gaming rig. Good to know it's me. I am hoping this isn't the final and only option but I guess it does work.

The Battle Screen button is on that blue bar on the bottom of the browser window; can be hard to find at first.

Need more info I guess. Don't think this is a common problem tho NV users do report more in general.

What info do you need? Specs are on the left. It happens randomly and gives the same error that all other users are reporting. Sometimes it just crashes without an error with either bf4.exe or d3d11.dll as the cause.

Ive reinstalled the game already.

Not having that issue here. Have battlelog open on my second screen and alt+tab out of the game, open the battlescreen, and click the battlefield icon in the taskbar.

Is your second screen usually blank while gaming?

As I said above no clue as I just hooked it up for this; never really saw a need and this one was on my server but that might as well be headless. But it's not supposed to go black I realize thanks to Alex which I guess I should have known...

Not sure what to tell you Wastedslayer; you have to troubleshoot more I guess but it's just the beta and all. Maybe just wait idk. There is obviously something it doesn't like going on (or not) software-wise. It would probably work fine on a clean install esp one of Windows 8 but that doesn't much help you now of course...

Damn the settings getting reset really effed me up tonight. Could not get mine to read old. And I thought I read sprint was slower which I noticed at first (way too slow too) but then the next server it was fast again.

I'm having more frequent end of round crashing issues since the patch today too.

Game is fun, but the netcode and hit reg is alarmingly bad...that's really the only serious issue I have with it that's not an easy fix. It's so annoying to be playing with an SMG or LMG, pump what should be lethal damage into an assault, just to have them flip around and instagib you at any range. There's either something wrong with the AK-12 and SCAR or they are way way way OP.

Just experienced the teleport bug from BF3 in the beta. The one that will teleport you 100ft+ suddenly and cause you to be going so fast that if you hit any object you'll die. I really hope that bug is not around in BF4.

Also noticed that running and jumping is still faster then with just running still.

Yup, Battlescreen on the secondary monitor is all hunky dorey. I've got a really weird setup, though, so it would be hard to use mine as an example. It's an old Sylvania 15" POS running at 1280x1024 hooked up to my first dvi port with a VGA adapter. Junky, but I use it for Team Speak and keeping a browser open for wiki info when playing other games - and the occasional Star Trek episode while playing Terraria.

Also noticed that running and jumping is still faster then with just running still.

That's odd, Reayth and I had a foot race last night, he's a strong proponent of the run and hop, and I was catching him and pulling away every time. Hopefully you are right, because he was downright disappointed.

I have to agree on the SMG/LMG thing, happened to me, and it was a assault guy that did it too.

I tried BF4 beta out for last few days , performance is not bad but there are times you get big drops and feels stuttery . I don't think its graphics but network .

It looks like there might be some Z buffer issues , it looks like I have been hit while behind a pillar , at least that is what it looks like from my end .

Oh, how do most user play this , I am using window mode cause you need browser open for servers . Do you guys play this full screen and if so then you constantly alt-tab if you change servers ?

PS: first time playing either BF3 or BF4 so don't know how 3 was .

For BF3 I have a handful of servers I like for different games and depending on who so once I'm in I don't really feel the need to keep tabbing out. If you are like that the BF4 supports borderless window for full screening so task switching when running a second screen for stats, chat and the battlelog window is less of a pain than other games.

Looking at your spec I'm guessing you're running Ultra which is a bit much for 8GB and a 660Ti.

It was on Auto ultra but I went to custom very high (next one down) . since I play on a single Dell 1600x1200 lcd and my desktop happens to be 1280x1024 it defaulted in a windows mode .

Yes, I have to check ram usage since my browsers opens for servers and I have many tabs open (25-30) its not great on ram as browser can go over 1gig by itself .
I have to play with it try few things .
Is it mandatory to have browser open once game runs ? or is it needed for stats stuff .

Edit: Tested it, memory usage is fine it about 4.5gig's total system and I changed to borderless mode .
CPU is being taxed pretty good all cores avg 80%+ and temps are close to prime95 ones , avg 55c . This definitely pushes CPU more than vid IMO .

thanks for feedback .

My son is too and during BF3 I was always right behind him and he never pulled away. Looks like they are bunny hopping everywhere.
What ever lights your fire I guess. It looks ridiculous though. I haven't seem much War Footage of guys doing that

So how much do you think it takes away from the GPU to do that? If not much fine, but if it strains it I'm not gonna even bother.

After reading the reviews on AMD new cards I think people with a 670 will enjoy good frame rates with a mature game and drivers. It was kinda a sigh of relief when I saw the less than spectacular results from W1zz.

Not trying to turn this into a debate on e-peen or brandwarz. Just saying people with a generation old card (AMD or NVIDIA) are gonna be pretty set for the next year or so in BF4 depending on the card.

+1 Just what I said, no upgrade hysteria yet! Cool (down)! Yabadabadabba!

Getting a 2nd screen or tablet to work as a map, now that is (L)evolution! :rockout:

I ran a few tests with my i7 920 and gtx670 yesterday and Dice's Beta patch did wonders for my CPU; I went from 80-90% on all 4 cores w/ HT to 50-65%. I guess everyone who was stating that network and CPU optimizations were needed were correct.

And I was able to up gfx for the most part from HIGH to ULTRA with no noticeable drops in performance. :toast:

I didn't notice much change on CPU % after patch but i am sure the retail will be much better, as I am assuming the beta is not optimized yet and could very well have some debug code running .

I'll have to recheck temps as that is best way IMO . It looked around the same 80% on each core usage which is pretty good IMO for multithreading a game . I am on i5-3570k (mild OC 4.0 )

Edit: Looking around only changelog I found was this and not much changed here, at least listed performance wise .

I remember the optimizations in place for the Alpha and Beta in BF3 were terrible and stopped me from buying it upon release. I only picked it up about 2-3 months after release when I read how the game improved significantly. I expect the same rocky start for BF4 at launch, unfortunately.

I'm surprised that your i5 is hitting the 80's, my i7 is older.

That's odd, Reayth and I had a foot race last night, he's a strong proponent of the run and hop, and I was catching him and pulling away every time. Hopefully you are right, because he was downright disappointed.

yeah, bunny hop like I do in bf3 and hell since quake 1 doesn't work the same so your necks are safe till I figure it out. In the meantime don't forget to look over your shoulders byatches.:pimp:
