Well get the 5850, Its worth the price/performance/power ratio.

5830 - Not worth a price performance ratio plus just add a little and you get a 5850, from where i live, the price difference of 5850 and 5830 is just 20 USD.
5870 - Its also good but you said you don't have enough money., plus 5850 OC'ed can reach 5870 speeds
5770 - A good card but coming from a gtx 250 card, you will not see much of a difference other than the new dx11 features(which you can't use fully because 5770 is not fast enough)
GTX 260 - No dx11, Well it has physx but you can make the cpu do that. in dx11 you can't. plus you will also not see much of a difference coming from a OC'ed GTX 250.
Any other 2xx cards - Old recycled tech.
5970 - Very expensive
GTX 470 or 480 - Very expensive.

well yeah but the price different in here is huge.

a 5850 is at least $80 more than 5830.

why Nvidia doesnt have a midrange card yet? why all expensive??

anyway it depends, if i will have to wait very long to save up to $500 for a 5850 then i will just buy a 5830 and overclock it.

also i want to upgrade my cpu to q8400. is it a good cheap cpu?

nvidia had a massive design failure, their cards use too much power, put out too much heat, and are too expensive to make. They arent even worth considering these days.

so a heavily overclocked 5830 can be close or match a geforce 470?

and in this review, we are witessing an amazing performance by the overcloced 5830.

faster than 275 and 480 and very close to 5870.

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/sapphire_hd5830/9.htm

i made up my mind. that review changed my mind.

i will buy the ati 5830 when i have enough money.

and please dont be jealous of that review that 5830 is performing good. LOL.

trt740: i think you are trying to incite an argument.

why you are trying to bully me?

just because you are the Nvidia slave and bought their card doesnt mean that you have to bully someone like me.

i am forced to go for a 5830 because there arent good choices in the market now.

5770 can be slow card. 4890, 260, 275 are all old and expensive. thats why.

i hope 5830 come down in price soon.

and since im just a student it will take me a long time to save $400 anyway. so i can wait.

but i wont buy anything below 5830 for sure.

i have 3 left over Nvdia cards.

8500gt 256mb
9600GSO 384mb
and GTS 250 512mb.

how can i sell them in here? can you help me please?

Obviously its Sapphire HD 5830 1010/1270 MHz which is an amazing overclocker.

maybe i should buy that version? In most/all benchmarks its faster than 275,4890 and can match the 285 and 5850.

what do you think?

and how come in that review 5770 is much slower than 5830? because most people say that 5770 is close to 5830?!!!??

This I don't agree on the 470 gtx is a great card, as is the 480 gtx, power hungry yes, hotter than a 5000 series card yes, more powerful than single gpu 5000 series cards yes.

trt740: no, its because they are expensive.

and i found a benchmark which shows a superclocked version of 5830 which is 20 or 30fps faster than a 5770 and can be faster than a stock 5850 by 3 or 4 fps!!!!

in here http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...e_hd5830/9.htm

then why its still a bad card??????

No one said it was bad, but a 5770 is a better deal and a video card with 128 bit bus and ddr 5 is like a 256 bit card with ddr3. DDr5 makes up the bandwith.

yes, but 5830 is 256 bit and also GDDR5.

5770 is 128 bit and GDDR5.

I can also buy that saphire version which can overclock like crazy in here http://www.extremepc.co.nz/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=124_128&products_id=4313 for $400.

it looks like a decent and rare version.

hopefuly by the time i save up my money it comes down in price.

and i didnt know overclocking the core can have a big impact on fps on 5830!!!

so obviously heavily overclocking the core can make up for the lack of rops on 5830?????

Exactly and thats why the 256 bit bus makes very little difference and why they perform very similar. Do what you think if you haven't made up your mind now then I cannot help you.

the reason we're iffy on the 5830 is that it isnt as power efficient as the other cards, they cheaped out on the design.

Performance may be decent, but it runs hotter and draws more power for the same performance, compared to the other ATI cards. If that doesnt concern you... go for it.

You cannot make up for the 100% more ROPs, the 5850 will simply slaughter you regardless :slap:
A 5850 at its default 725MHz is still faster than a 5830 overlocked to 960Mhz.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/HD_5830_Twin_Frozr_II/32.html

Also, both the reference 5770 and the 5850 overclocks even better due to superior board design.

i am sure i can overclock more to bypass the 6 fps that is left on 5850.

i promise you that once i got my saphire 5830 i will OC it to the point that it will be faster than anything :).

i will show you.

its just a fluke. get a life.

if there is one thing you need to learn, its to trust video card reviews from here on TPU. they are not one offs. they are not flukes. They are thorough, they are repeated many times, and they are done accurately at all resolutions.

Oh and next insult you throw out, gets you an infraction.

Interesting, because I have always put W1zzard's chart above all else do to the fact that he spend so much effort and time on them. And I can't think of any way that he is bribed. I wonder why you think his chart are off? Its even used in Wikipedia (check the links on the bottom of the page)

HD 5770.

GTX 260 just not worth it. No Direct X11 features.
HD 5830. Good card. But not worth the amount you pay as you can get a 5850 for a little more money.

So 5770 is the best out of em. DX11 features, Low power consumption and less heat. :)

Don't forget that a 5850 can easily OC as well, it really doesn't take much for the 5850 before a 5830 simply cannot keep up.
It is somewhat like you are trying to get a V6 to beat a V12.

Bebbee, No matter what you say, 5850s are much more better than 5830s. Because you don't have enough money to buy an 5850 and you can only buy 5830, you are trying to think and convince yourself that the 5830 is a very good card and that it is better than the 5850 and in some cases the 5870(seriously why did ATI made 5830's model name 5830.)

seriously don't believe all the reviews out there. plus every card. even with the same model and brand is different.

Buy the 5830 if you want.

You come here asking for help but you don't want to listen to us. and you even insulted someone.

i am sure i can overclock more to bypass the 6 fps that is left on 5850.

i promise you that once i got my saphire 5830 i will OC it to the point that it will be faster than anything :).

i will show you.

There is a limit to how far you can overclock a video card, what makes you think you'd be able to overclock higher and faster than a professional reviewer that overclocks 100s of these cards every year?

The reality is the 5830 is a fantastic card performance wise, but it doesn’t offer value for money. Look at the majority of the reviews and you'd see that the 5830 is only slightly faster than the 5770 which is $130 cheaper. Why pay $130 more ontop of the 5770 for a card that is only slightly faster (5830).

In all honesty, if you've got a budget of $300 you would be better off buying two 5770s or two 5750s and putting it in crossfire it will blow the socks of the 5830 for cheaper, heck it will and even challenge a 5870!

But in all honesty crossfire is too much hassle, just buy a single 5850 and call it a day.

HD 5770.

GTX 260 just not worth it. No Direct X11 features.
HD 5830. Good card. But not worth the amount you pay as you can get a 5850 for a little more money.

So 5770 is the best out of em. DX11 features, Low power consumption and less heat. :)

Not to mention High Overclock Potential.
