OK. I have a chance to get this card: "connect3D 3038 Radeon X800GTO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card - OEM " for $25 more than my open box Sapphire X800 GTO 128mb that had stock clocks of 390/350mhz and seemed to run hot.

The connect 3d card should have 400/490 clocks and has double the memory and faster memory. The connect3d card is also an open box, so I doubt that I can unlock it (Who in their right mind would return an unlockable GTO?).

I should RMA the 128mb sapphire and get the connect 3d for 25 bucks more right? I would get a brand new one but I don't have enough funds.

P.S. Do people really need the cables and dvi adaptor that come in the retail version. I ask this because I will get no accessories at all. Just the card itself.

Well the VIVO is nice if you're gonna use it, if not then I would go with the ICEQ2. HIS is a good brand and also remember that if you're gonna OC it, you want a good cooler and the ICQ2 already comes with one. If you get the GTO you'll have to buy and install a cooler if you want to OC it much. Up to you bro...

I was checking that one out too. It looks awesome! For that one it says the clock is 500mhz compared to 400mhz for the connect3d. Is that because the HIS radeon has a 480 chip in it or is it because it has a massive icy turbo cooler on it. LOL. Also, if I get the one above, what's the percent odds that I can get to 16pipes sometime down the road?
P.S. Thanks for all the help. You guys are great!:toast:

i dunno the percentage but some all of the his ones are r480 because they factory test the clocks and the ones that dont pass the 500/500 clocks are eliminated... so chances of high overclock is 100% and chances of unlock is like probably 50-60% u can get it to 650/650 with 16 pipes if ur lucky... i did!!! play all games on all highest at 1204*1028 with 6 fsaa and 16 af

No you don't need any of that junk unless you going to be using the VIVO or something. Your monitor should plug in just fine to the VGA or DVI port (whatever cable you already use).

OK. Which one would be the fastest. And which is the best deal.

1. HIS X800 GTO with 500/500 clocks brand new in box with all cables for $125
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161166

2. HIS X800 XL with 400/490 clocks but all 16 pipelines open for $120. This is an open box return item and it has no cables and is used.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161165R

3. Same as #1 but OPEN Box returned HIS X800 GTO with 500/500 clocks. No cables. $93

4. Or go super cheap and get the connect 3d X800 GTO OPEN BOX with 400/490 clocks for only $80.

Good question... one of the first two for sure. Read some reviews for the XL and the TURBO and see what the scores have been in the past. It's best to do some research at this point. Both are great deals though!!!

from what I see YES you can unlock to 16 pipelines... However I do not know how to mod/alter the bios, so you will have to wait until somebody that knows comes online (wait for a about a day or so)

1. Download and unpack the archive.
2. Burn the iso image on CD (CD-RW) using the option "burn image" in your burning software.
3. Adjust the MOBO's BIOS for first boot device to be the CD
4. Boot from the already burned CD
5. Choose one of the following flash options:
- Flash to 16 pipes X800GTO PCI-E, R480 (VIVO)
- Flash to X850XT PCI-E, R480, 1xVGA/1xDVI, (520/540MHz)
- Flash to X850XT PE PCI-E, R480, 1xVGA/1xDVI (540/590MHz)
- Rollback to [ X800GTO, R480 (12 pipes - Original BIOS)

RPG has been banned from the forum... so you would have to wait until someone comes along to help you. FOr now though, I suggest you download something like ATI TOol or ATI Tray Tools (dosent matter) and overclock your card to a safe level (use the Find Max Core and Find Max Mem functions in ATI Tool) After you overclock it, it should run pretty well already. It should be a good temp. (or permanent as well!) solution to making your card go faster while waiting for help.

stock speeds for xt 520core 540 mem..... pe 540/ 590... use ati tool to test card at those speeds before flashing .... you can unlock to 16 pipes but you should check the speeds to make sure that card will be stable before setting the speeds to default with flash...if card is stable at xt or pe speeds you can use Dolf's utility for the flash ..http://www.savefile.com/projects.php?pid=482201
