Enermax Previews Silent PSU and Fulmo ST Case, and More Ahead of CeBIT

Enermax plans to enter CeBIT with a three main attractions to its booth. First, a new lineup of fanless/silent PSUs; second, additions to its Fulmo line of ATX mid~full-tower cases; and third, the DreamBass line of notebook coolers that replace your notebook's built-in tweeters speakers with ones that can begin to do justice to bass. To begin with, Enermax is looking to launch a line of fanless PSUs in the mid-capacity range (500W-700W), which toss out fans for chunkier heatsinks, feature modular cabling, and are 80 Plus Platinum-compliant.

Moving on, Enermax will show off a handful of its newest gaming PC cases, including the Fulmo ST ATX mid-tower, pictured below. The Fulmo ST, according to the company, is spacious enough for triple graphics-card gaming PC builds, with room for 240 mm radiators, and a liquid-cooling loop that doesn't stick out. It will pack ten 3.5-inch/2.5-inch drive bays, and various nifty locking/mounting mechanisms that help PC enthusiasts. Following its CeBIT unveil, the Fulmo ST will make it to stores in April.

Revised Corsair Enthusiast Series PSUs Can Run Completely Fanless

Corsair unveiled a trio of Enthusiast Series V2 (TX-series) PSUs in Japan, which feature Hybrid Silent Fan Control, a revised thermal management measure that spins down the fan completely under low loads, and begins to spin it up only after a thermal/load threshold is crossed. These PSUs feature the same casing as the modular TX-series V2 models (such as TX-750M), but feature completely fixed cabling. Among the PSUs launched are the new (improved) TX-650 (CP-9020038-JP), TX-750 (CP-9020042-JP), and TX-850 (CP-9020043-JP). The three models are 80 Plus Bronze-compliant, and otherwise feature the same specifications as the Enthusiast Series V2 models in the market, elsewhere.

AMD Shows Off Silent A10-5700 System

AMD Japan teamed up with ASUS to display a concept 100% fanless (silent) HTPC build to buyers at Tokyo's Akihabara electronics shopping district. The build uses Streacom FC5 chassis with a CPU base modified for socket FM2. The base conducts heat from the processor using four copper heat pipes to the aluminum chassis, which doubles up as a heatsink. The build utilizes AMD A10-5700 APU, ASUS F2A85-M Pro micro-ATX motherboard based on AMD A85X chipset, 8 GB of AMD-certified DDR3-1866 MHz memory, and Corsair Force GT SSD. The concept build shows buyers that AMD's "Trinity" APUs are ready, willing, and able to power silent HTPC builds.

SilentMaxx Readies Fanless Sandy Bridge-E Desktop

German PC maker SilentMaxx achieved the unthinkable: a completely silent desktop PC driven by Intel's Watt-guzzling Core Sandy Bridge-E processors, including the six-core i7-3960X. The Fanless I-850 from SilentMaxx starts at 1,280€, and the base-model is powered by Core i7-3820. With the most critical component "silenced" thanks to its in-house TwinMax CPU cooler, the company loaded the rest of the rig with other silent components, such as silent PSUs, graphics cards, and of course, SSDs.

Although the Fanless I-850 ships with a passive-cooled Radeon HD 7770 graphics card, it can be configured to ship with a passive-cooled Radeon HD 7970, too. Other high-end options include multiple SSDs in RAID configurations, and up to 64 GB of quad-channel DDR3-1600 MHz memory.

Nofan Unveils All-Copper CR-95C Silent CPU Heatsink

Silent PC cooling solutions expert Nofan is ready with an all-copper variant of its CR-95 fanless CPU heatsink. Called the CR-95C, the heatink retains the distinct hamster-wheel shape that's optimized for passive cooling. Measuring 180 x 180 x 148 mm (WxDxH), the cooler weighs a little over a kilogram, at 1020 g. Despite its dimensions, particularly its weight, it can only handle processors with TDP up to 100W (95W chips with mild OC could run, too). Its design consists of an octagonal copper (mirror-finish) base, from which two copper heat-pipes emerge, which twine through the copper fin stack. The CR-95C from Nofan is slated for early-June.

Spire Announces Kepler Series Universal CPU Coolers

SilverStone to Release Nightjar 500W Silent PSU Later This Week

SilverStone is on course for releasing the Nightjar ST50NF this Thursday. The ST50NF is a 500W, fan-less (completely silent), 80 Plus Gold compliant, non-modular power supply (PSU). The PSU does away with the 120 mm fan, and replaces it with a large aluminum heatsink that draws heat from numerous smaller heatsinks below that in turn draw heat from the various hot components. To try and offset the weight it puts on with all those heatsinks, and to make the unit airy, the outer body is made of thin perforated aluminum sheets.

The Nightjar ST50NF delivers 500W of continuous power, it is standards-compliant with ATX 12 V2.3 & EPS 12V. It features active PFC (power factor correction), and uses a single +12V rail design. All its cables are fixed to the unit. There should be enough cabling for a performance PC with a single graphics card. The PSU carries an MTBF rating of 50,000 hours. SilverStone's Nightjar ST50NF will be priced at €129.

Nexus Intros SM-9000 Silent Wireless Mouse

Nexus Technology unveiled its new SM-9000 silent wireless mouse that's just about good enough for gaming. The mouse uses a patented switch design that doesn't make any "clicking" noise, the company is busy showing people the advantages of getting rid of that annoying noise. The 1,600 dpi laser sensor makes the mouse good enough for gaming. Measuring 102 x 59 x 36 mm, the SM-9000 features an ergonomic right-oriented design, with three buttons and a vertical scroll wheel. Its wireless connection uses the 2.4 GHz band, and is capable of 39 2-way channels. It uses a tiny USB dongle, that can provide up to 10 meters range. The mouse runs on two AAA-size batteries, the auto-save mode helps conserve it. The SM-9000 is available in two variants, the all-black SM-9000B, and carbon fiber pattern SM-9000C. Nexus didn't give out pricing.

Scythe Releases Third Edition of Mugen CPU Cooler Series

Japanese cooling expert Scythe is announcing today the successor of popular Mugen 2 CPU Cooler. Mugen 2 CPU Cooler was awarded many times and is well known world-wide to mainstream users, Overclocker and Enthusiasts. During the development process main focus was set on improvement of performance and mounting mechanism as well as shrinking the heatsink dimensions. PowerColor HD 6850 SCS3 Silent Graphics Card Final Iteration Pictured

Perhaps the fastest silent graphics card in the making, PowerColor's new HD 6850 SCS3 finally taken shape, and will launch soon. The card was spotted first in November 2010, but has since undergone many little changes, particularly with its PCB and components. The card is designed to draw power from one 6-pin power connector, and run the GPU at reference speeds, while relying entirely on a massive heatsink to cool it. The heatsink uses five copper heat pipes to draw heat directly from the GPU, and through the large aluminum fin array. The HD 6850 features 960 stream processors, and 1 GB of GDDR5 memory over a 256-bit wide memory interface.

Gigabyte Readies HD 5750 Silent Cell Graphics Card

Gigabyte displayed a new non-reference Radeon HD 5750 based graphics card that boasts of being silent (passive cooling) that's also up to 18 °C cooler than the reference active cooler. The GV-R575SL-1GI or Gigabyte HD 5750 Silent Cell uses a large passive heatsink that spans across two slots and is a little taller than the card itself. The cooler is an aluminum fin array to which heat is conducted by three copper heat pipes. Display outputs include dual DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI, and it can pair with any other Radeon HD 5700 series graphics card. The card draws all its power from the PCI-E slot. Like every other Radeon HD 5750 card, it has 720 stream processors, is DirectX 11 compliant, and uses 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface.

MSI Announces R5450 Series Silent, Low-Profile Graphics Cards

Furthermore, the fan-less, native HDMI and low-profile designs are customized for HTPCs, so that both models are prime choices for building a home theatre.

Club3D Intros Silent HD 5750

Adding to the expansive list of non-reference design Radeon HD 5750, is Club3D with its new silent HD 5750 model. The new accelerator carries a red PCB which seems to resemble the reference PCB, but for the color. The GPU is cooled by a large silent heatsink which consists of a GPU block from which four copper heatpipes arise, conveying heat to an aluminum fin array. The memory seems to be cooled by heatsinks, too. It retains the rear panel of the reference design, with two DVI-D and one each of HDMI and DisplayPort.

The rest of its specs are identical to others in its league: DirectX 11 support, 720 stream processors, 1 GB of memory across a 128-bit GDDR5 interface, ATI CrossFireX and Eyefinity support, it asks 140€ for staying quiet.

Club 3D Working on More Silent HD 4650 Models

Club 3D is reportedly working on two more mid-range Radeon HD 4650 accelerators. The two are identical in design, and differ in memory capacities. The design's main selling point is its two slot silent cooler which cools the GPU. The memory is made to cool passively. These cards come with memory capacities of 512 MB or 1 GB. The memory sub-system is made of 128-bit DDR2 clocked at 800 MHz, while the GPU core runs at 600 MHz. Display outputs care of DVI-D, D-Sub, and HDMI. The 512 MB variant has started appearing in stores for just about 52 Euro.

PowerColor Expands Go! Green Lineup with New Silent Models

PowerColor expanded its energy efficient lineup of entry-thru-mainstream graphics cards which it calls Go! Green, with two passively-cooled graphics cards based on ATI Radeon HD 4670 and Radeon HD 4350. The PowerColor Go! Green SCS3 HD 4670 uses a large passive cooler which uses heat-pipes to convey heat to a aluminum fin array. This extends the card's footprint to around two expansion slots. The card maintains ATI reference core clock speeds of 750 MHz, and makes use of 1 GB of memory across a 128-bit GDDR3 memory interface, clocked at 1600 MHz. Output connectivity includes DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. Like every other HD 4670 accelerator, it relies entirely on the PCI-Express slot for its power. Hardware CrossFireX connectivity isn't provided.

PowerColor's second offering, the HD 4350 Go! Green HDMI, unlike most other Radeon HD 4350 graphics cards, is a full-height card, with a monolithic aluminum heatsink that cools the GPU and some of the memory chips. The heatsink, although fit for most half-height cards, spans across two expansion slots. Its USP is the onboard HDMI connector, which neighbours DVI and D-Sub ports. Its core is clocked at 600 MHz, with its 64-bit DDR2 memory at 800 MHz. There are three sub-variants based on memory amount: 256 MB, 512 MB, and 1 GB. PowerColor maintains that these graphics cards offer up to 38 percent energy savings compared to standard versions. Other models in this series are the Go! Green HD 4650 SCS, and Go! Green HD 4350 (non-HDMI).

Sharkoon Introduces SilentStorm PSU Series with Flat-Modular Cables

Sharkoon re-released its SilentStorm power supply series today, featuring a new design with modular cable system, 135mm fan and in three different power ratings: 460, 560 and 660 watts.

Sharkoon Designs Fans With Modular Cable System

Flexible cable management is now available for fans. At CeBIT Sharkoon will be showcasing a new innovation in fan design: a case fan with modular cable system. The Sharkoon Silent Eagle SE features a 4 pin connector built into the fan's frame and comes with four different cables for connecting the fan to a mainboard, fan controller or power supply. The fan can be used with a CPU cooler or as a case or hard drive fan. The speed of the fan can be controlled via PWM signal or through three different cables directly connected to the power supply. Users can, according to need, choose the connection type, fan speed, and consequently the loudness and purpose for which the fan is used. Sharkoon offers the Silent Eagle SE in 80mm and 120mm.

Four cables are included with the fan, and include a 4-pin PWM cable that can be controlled by the mainboard and three cables with Molex connectors that limit the voltage to 12, 9 or 7 volts. The 30cm long cables are individually labelled and colour coded for easy reference as well as featuring a robust casing. Sharkoon also offers separately a 60cm cable for users with large cases. The Silent Eagle SE operates with an efficient, low-noise motor that provides silent operation under each connection. The 80mm fan has a maximum rotation of 2000 rpm and, depending on rotation, a noise level of between 6.5 and 22 dB(A). The 120mm fan has a maximum rotation of 1200 rpm and maximum loudness of 20.5 dB(A).
