Corsair Readies CX-F RGB Line of Entry-level PSUs Targeted at Gamers

Corsair is preparing to launch its CX-F line of entry-level PSUs with RGB LED lighting, targeted at gaming PC builds on a budget. A successor of the company's CX line of value PSUs, the CX-F series began surfacing on retailers such as PC-Canada. It comes in capacities of 550 W (model: CP-9020216-EU), 650 W (CP-9020217-EU), and 750 W (CP-9020218-EU), and color options of black and white (CP-9020225-EU, CP-9020226-EU, and CP-9020227-EU).

Under the hood, these PSUs offer single +12 V rail design, 80 Plus Bronze efficiency, active PFC, and LLC resonant converter. The RGB bling comes from a 120 mm fan that features a white impeller that doubles up as an RGB LED diffuser, and LEDs located in its impeller hub. The OEM appears to be HEC. The PSU talks to software over an ARGB header, so it could interface with the iCUE RGB software. PC-Canada asks $85 USD (converted) for the 550 W variant, $100 USD for 650 W, and $110 USD for 750 W.

A Walk Through 1stPlayer - A New Kid on the PC Gaming Block

1stPlayer is a Chinese PC gaming peripherals vendor that went international this Computex, entering the European market. It showed off a small range of PC gaming wares, including power-supplies, case fans, and keyboards. The PSU lineup, which includes the mainstream Steam Punk series, and the entry-level DK series, are characterized by full-modular cabling. The Steam Punk 650W has no steampunk design elements, dons a matte white body, with a white LED-illuminated fan, and a fascinating combination of power outputs (for its market positioning and Wattage), including two 4+4 pin EPS, four 6+2 pin PCIe power, six SATA power, and three Molex. This unit features 80 Plus Silver efficiency. Next up, is the all-black DK 650W, with an identical power connector loadout as the Steam Punk 650W, but with 80 Plus Bronze efficiency. Both models feature flat modular cables.

Next up, is the company's case fan series, which includes the Fire Moon, and the Fire Dancer. Both are 120 mm fans with fluid-dynamic bearing, which are capable of daisy-chaining with up to two fans (3 fans in all). The Fire Dancer series features a more pronounced silicone diffuser for its RGB LED lighting, which covers almost 2/3rds of the frame's bore and perimeter. The Fire Moon series features a thinner ring along the perimeter of the frame. Both feature vibration dampening mounts. The two are sold in packs of three fans, which includes a proprietary RGB LED hub, and an RF remote.

Be Quiet! Announces the Pure Power 9 Series PSUs

Be quiet!, the market leader in PC power supplies in Germany for ten consecutive years, is introducing the Pure Power 9 with fixed cables in 300 to 700 watts, offering a new option for quiet PC configurations as well as powerful multi-GPU systems. Models with cable management are on the market since March. Thanks to extensive development work, both the efficiency and the voltage stability are improved when compared to its predecessor while reducing noise to a minimum.

Be quiet! continues its extensive development of the Pure Power series by relying on the newest technologies. The 400-watt and higher models utilize the so-called "Active Clamp + SR" topology which leads to increased efficiency. The Pure Power 9 achieves an efficiency of up to 91 percent, leading to an 80 Plus Silver certification and a top performance in this price segment. The lower wattage models are 80 Plus Bronze certified. By implementing two independent 12 volt-rails, be quiet! is able to further improve the signal stability compared to its predecessor.

XIGMATEK Unveils Vector S550 Power Supply

XIGMATEK unveiled the Vector Stealth 550W power supply. This partly modular PSU is characterized by a racy-red body, and offers 550W continuous power output with 80 Plus Silver switching efficiency, a single +12V rail design; and most modern PSU features, such as APFC, electrical protections, Core C6/C7 states support, etc. The PSU offers cabling for a gaming PC with a single high-end graphics card. Connectors include a 24-pin ATX, an 8+8 pin EPS, two 6+2 pin PCIe, six SATA, three Molex, and one Berg. The unit is cooled by an LED-lit 135 mm fan.

FSP Also Unveils 80 Plus Silver Compliant Raider Series PSUs

FSP's August 2012-launched Raider series of mainstream PSUs got an efficiency upgrade to 80 Plus Silver with two new models, the 650W RA-650, and the 750W RA-750. The two feature single +12V design, handling 50A on the 650W, and 60A on the 750W models. The two are ATX v2.31 and EPS 2.92 compliant, feature most common protection features, 99% active PFC, and fixed cabling. The 650W model features two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, while the 750W one has four. The rest of the cabling is identical: 24-pin, 4+4-pin EPS, nine SATA, three Molex, one Berg. The two are cooled by a 120 mm temperature controlled fan. Along with the Aurum 92+, the two will be available from some time in February.

Scythe Chouriki 2 Plug-in 1600W PSU Detailed

Scythe unveiled its new ultra-high capacity PSU, the Chouriki 2 Plug-in 1600W. Measuring a massive 240 x 150 x 86 mm WxDxH, the PSU uses a dual asymmetric 12V rail design, featuring a 110A rail, and a second 50A rail. It boasts of 80 Plus Silver, with high efficiency at low AC voltages such as 90~120VAC (although 220~250VAC is supported), and most modern PSU safeguards, governed by its secondary IC.

The Chouriki 2 Plug-in is partially modular, with its 24-pin ATX and two 8-pin EPS connectors being fixed; while sixteen 6+2 pin PCIe, sixteen SATA power, eight Molex and two Berg connectors are detachable. The unit is cooled by a temperature-controlled 135 mm fan, with manual fan overrides. Slated for November 21, and backed by a 5-year warranty, the Chouriki 2 Plug-in 1600W is priced at 26,980 JPY (US $340).

Zalman Intros ZM700-SV Mainstream PSU

Zalman introduced the ZM700-SV, a 700-Watt (continuous) PSU for performance gaming PC builds. It boasts of 80 Plus Silver efficiency rating, single +12V rail design, dual-forward switching, interleaved active PFC, and Japanese-made components. Compliant with the latest PSU standards, including ATX 12V v2.3, EPS 2.92, and ErP Lot6, its protection IC covers most hazards, including over/under voltage/current/load and short-circuit. The ZM700-SV features fixed (non-modular) cabling that's sufficient for a gaming PC build with up to two graphics cards (four 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors). It is contract-manufactured by Enhance Electronics. Selling now, the ZM700-SV from Zalman is priced around US $120.

SilverStone Readies the Zeus ZM1350 1,350 W Power Supply

Already seen at several trade shows, SilverStone's 1,350 W Zeus Series power supply is now (finally) preparing its retail arrival. Codenamed ZM1350, this unit measures 150 (W) x 86 (H) x 230 (D) mm and features a peak power output of 1,500 W (1,350 W continuous), a fully-modular design, an 80 Plus Silver efficiency rating, Active PFC, six 12V rails (there's also a single rail mode), an 80 mm dual ball bearing fan, and a MTBF of 100,000 hours.

Unfortunately SilverStone hasn't announced a price tag for the Zeus ZM1350.

SilverStone Readies the Strider ST60F-PS 600 W Power Supply

At the end of this month SilverStone is set to introduce a new Strider Series power supply, a model called ST60F-PS which delivers 600 W and features an 80 PLUS Silver certification (80 Plus Gold at 230Vac). SilverStone's PSU measures 150 (W) x 86 (H) x 140 (D) mm and also has a fully-modular design, a single 12V (49A) rail, a 120 mm fan, and a MTBF of 100,000 hours.

The ST60F-PS is expected to cost about $120.
