Packaging and Contents

The box Deepcool ships their Gamer Storm Maelstrom 240 AIO liquid cooler in (talk about a mouth full!) is similar in size to other boxes AIO coolers come in. It roughly measures 32 cm in length, 20 cm in width, and 14 cm in height. The box looks to be big enough to protect the cooler well, which it hopefully did as it looks to have taken a beating during shipping. Its front holds a small image of the cooler and a half-rendered close-up of the pump; a, in part, mechanical drawing. The left side only contains the Gamer Storm logo, cooler name, and Deepcool's website URL. The back details the Malestrom 240's technical specifications, including the radiator's and pump's exact dimensions and all supported Intel and AMD sockets.

The right side again presents the Gamer Storm logo and holds an image of the cooler itself, and a few features are listed in the bottom right, in a hard-to-read gray font. The top of the box lists fan-, radiator-, and pump specifications, along with a laundry list of features.

Opening the battered box reveals the truth that good packaging is a necessity. The box may have seen better days, but the cooler arrived safe and sound, without a scratch. A few extra cents to protect a product are always worth it to the consumer. A simple box with cardboard insert may not be pretty, but has proven to be more than capable of protecting this cooler during transit.

All modern sockets are supported and the Gamer Storm Maelstrom 240's mounting hardware is very simple and straightforward. The Universal backplate for AMD and Intel should make installation a breeze. Like other AIO CPU coolers, the Maelstrom 240 can support four fans; however, the screws to do so are not included. Everything else one could need for installation is provided, though. Thermal compound has also been included; it comes pre-applied to the base of the pump/coldplate.

Common parts supplied for mounting include:
  • 8x Radiator screws
  • 8x fan screws
  • 4x Screw bolts
  • 4x Screws for LGA2011
  • 4x Black plastic buckles
  • 4x Mounting bracket screws
  • 4x Thumbscrews
  • 2x AMD mounting brackets
  • 2x Intel mounting brackets
  • 2x 120 mm GF120 fans
  • 1x Backplate
