D-Tek Fuzion GPU and Uni-Sink Review

Value & Conclusion »

Performance

As soon as the block and Uni-Sink was mounted, it was removed again, to check for contact. The contact of the Fuzion GFX was excellent, the paste was spread out well, there was a strong suction force between the block and the IHS, it had to be twisted and moved in order to come off.

The Uni-Sink had worse contact – while the voltage regulator area had good contact, the memory ended up much worse, with the NVIO chip having good contact again. I tried tightening the screws differently, but could not come up with a combination that would provide better contact.

The water cooling kit used during testing was made up of the following:
  • Pump: Eheim HPPS+ in Power mode
  • D-Tek Fuzion
  • Black ICE Xtreme II with 2 Sunon 7W fans, running at 100%
  • AGB-O-Matic plug-on reservoir

All temperatures are listed as delta-ambient.

Performance of the block was excellent – it dropped core load temperatures by over 30° C. However, even though temperatures remained low, we couldn’t squeeze out any more performance from the card, as it is voltage limited.

Alex from Petra’s Tech shop has taken his time to draw a pressure drop/flow graph, which I have borrowed for this review. As you can see, the GFX block is very, very restrictive – even more than a full cover block from EK! If you run a jet-impingement CPU block with a less powerful pump and wish to add the Fuzion GFX, it may be better to look at other blocks to achieve optimum performance.
