Skyloong GK75 Triple Mode Keyboard Review - Switch to Knobs!

Introduction

Skyloong Logo

Skyloong is a keyboard manufacturer and OEM/ODM brand based out of China with over 10 years of experience. We've previously seen a few different Skyloong-manufactured keyboards sold under the Epomaker brand and they all helped break the mindset of Chinese mechanical keyboards being on the more cheap side of things while not being able to compete on the higher end. Things are changing drastically in that regard with some pre-built keyboards rivaling premium group-buy offerings and I was curious to see whether Skyloong would step into the international scene as its own brand. It may have taken a decade, but here we are and thanks to Epomaker for providing a review sample to TechPowerUp!

As the name suggests, the Skyloong GK75 is a keyboard in the 75% form factor that is getting extremely popular in the last few months, even overtaking 60 and 65% keyboards. Perhaps it's to do with this version being as close to a TKL set as you can get while still getting reasonable size savings on your desk and perhaps it's also due to the extra row now allowing for ample room on the top right corner for a volume knob, which is all the rage now. The Skyloong GK75 decides one knob isn't enough and gives you four out of the box! But wait, this is a highly customizable keyboard that allows you to swap out three of those knobs for switches and the space bar key can also be split up into multiple keys. Add to this three connectivity modes—hence the triple mode in the name—as well as multiple case materials, colors, keycap sets, plenty of first-party switch options, and even a gasket mount, and you have a keyboard that merits a detailed review we provide today in this article, which begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
