Packaging & Contents

The Prolimatech Black Series Genesis CPU cooler comes packaged into a rather large box that measures roughly 26 cm in length, 16 cm in width, and 21 cm in height. Its name in reflective silver font and the Black Series moniker on the front, all supported sockets, and Prolimatech's website address are also listed here. The left side details fan support and cooling range and again lists the company's website for more information. The back is identical to the front, but does not make use of the reflective silver in the logo.

The right side has a basic list of the heatsink's specifications and a few diagrams. The top, while plain, has Prolimatech's logo and website address; the product name and Black Series moniker make another appearance here. Let's not forget that the box has a handle that is much more visible in the last picture.

Prolimatech packaging is above average. Its foam inserts offer adequate protection to the cooler and a smaller box contains all the mounting hardware. It is nice to see that Prolimatech did not skimp on packaging materials as the package seems to be the first money-saving option manufacturers have been taking as of late.

The heatsink is certainly unique, while the instructions are rather generic but serve their purpose well. A Prolimatech logo sticker has obviously also been included. Fan-mounting clips for one 120mm and 140mm fan, each, and a generic set for a 120/140 mm fan have been included as well. The bundle also includes 2 mg of Prolimatech's own PK-2 thermal compound.

The backplate for Intel systems is universal in that it supports all modern sockets. Every other mounting components will work with any socket except LGA2011, since it uses four special nuts instead. AMD systems use the metal conversion retention plate pictured above to install the cooler.

Prolimatech provided me with two Ultra Sleek Vortex 14 fans and the necessary fan clips for testing purposes since the Black Series Genesis cooler does not come with any fans.
