Intel Conroe - First Benchmark

Victor Wang over at XtremeSystems has the first set of benchmark results for the new Intel Conroe processors.

Super PI 1M test passed in only 21 seconds using the CoreDuo E6600 in the upcoming i965 chipset. No overclocking was done, which means the result could likely be faster.

What...what...what...:twitch:    That is real nice, now AMD is deffinetly has to come up with something way better then they have right now. That 3dmark05 score doesn't really say anything, I am sure that if a CPU can do 21sec in SuperPi it can do real good in 3d benchings.............WOW

My X2 @ 2.5 GHz takes 36 sec.

Since this is the same old non-dual core capable Super Pi, conroe seems to be a winner.

I don't think that there is many people out there that have systems that bench 21sec and 24/7
stable.

i can touch on 28sec with my p4 @ 4.7ghz... can't got any faster stable enough to benchmark. That conroe's incredible... and no overclocking to get to that speed  omg

I think ladies and gents we are looking at a big step back to the top from Intel.

It shall be interesting to see AMD's DDR2 efforts this coming june. Conroe isn't slated for release till Q3 am I right? Unless AMD have done something wonderful with their DDR2 part I can see them getting their butts kicked come Conroe.

Either way we (the technologically knowledgeable buying public) shall win in the end. This could see a hit to AMD sales of their DDR2 as others wait to see Conroe in the Fall.

Just in time for my yearly computer upgrade splurdge buy!!! Roll on Christmas!!:D

I've never understood the fanboy nature.
Surely the goal of any enthusiast is to aquire the best performance for the best price? Regardless of who it is.

my thoughts exactly i got ATI because this was the best card i knew of at the time but im pretty sure nVidia schooled us so since i refuse to let go of agp just yet im getting a 6800GS next and my next mobo just may be a conroe one :)

I've gone AMD since troubles I had with a Pentium 3 system but come end of year and the next upgrade we could very well see a change of allegiance for myself.
I used to have a 9800Pro myself. Loved it. My bruv has it now. Long time servant. RMAed 3 times
X800XL was an ebay auction nearly a year ago. Got it at £155.:rockout: That will stay. Does what I want it to.

My 3700 at stock 39 secs. With a whole lotta crap on my toolbar.

I should get overclocking again back to where I was before.

EastCoasthandle660 oc to 4.2 does it in 30 seconds flat..
Hey hey. Summit to aim for. Doubt I'll get that. I'd be happy with 32-35.

I lost my feelings to Intel about 3 years ago, but now they are coming back. All I care about is whats fastest out there and if Intel will bring it, I'll take it.

Only 33secs here for super pi, but I'm happy. :toast:

Yeah.. 21 seconds? Holy crap. At about 3.0 GHz, I hit roughly 26 -- that wasn't too stable. My stable operating time is about 28-29. This chip is mad fast. AMD has their 65nm process slated. AM2, so far, even with the added "boost" of DDR2, hasn't really affected scores much, as preliminary benches would suggest. Pity, I'm a big AMD fan. However, if AMD offers nothing that competes with this by the time it debuts, I may just switch back to Intel.

um by your logic you could just as easily say the reverse. suffice to say 3dmark is the only universal way to compare cpu gaming performance. um hello that's why it was included! lol seriously
this just means intel in synthetic benches can beat amd big woop. that proves that intel "theoretically" can beat amd, but can't in an actual application?(which 3dmark is).

overall we have to wait to see a real review this on was done by a complete amatuer, I mean what a bout pcmark, science mark etc?

People.........don't panic!!!!!

I don't understand why some peolpe started to panic'n over what they've got (AMD) compared to Intel's Conroe! Just cool down.
Conroe is the future cpu. You just can't compare current AMD chips to Intels future chips. It seems to me that some peolpe are willing to jump into Intel already.
I just sit back and wait til Conroe comes out and see what AMD has to counterattack this game and from there you can conclude who's the king of the hill.
But just think for a slightest second, would AMD give this crown-performance up that easy?
I don't think so! They have had tried so hard to come to where they are now.
You gotta understand for one thing, Intel is very very good at PR marketing...show off things and what have you, but AMD on ther hand kepp things quite. Maybe this is their way of fighting Intel (so that Intel doesn't know where to aim)

My AMD FX55 o/c @ to 3Ghz it gives me 29 sec in Super PI and im not sooking because i know my FX 55 is old as hill compared to Conroe so to speak.
Just give AMD a chance to prove its superiority:D

btw, he reinstalled windows, and all the benchmarks got even faster. he got like 8000 cpu score in 3dmark05 with a 6600le. thats just insane.

AMD will have something later on, next year most likely. AM2 wont be that great. im waiting for AM3...40% faster transistor switching, meaning more performance per clock and less energy used to run the thing. AMD might use ZRAM for the L2 cache on the processor...google that...its pretty interesting. point is. put that together with AMD switching to 65nm, AMD could produce MUCH faster processors.

its just gonna take a while haha.

btw, my best superpi is 29.531s at 2.8 GHz...

That Conroe is CRAZY FAST. All of its scores are mighty impressive, but what really knocks my socks off are its SiSoft Sandra scores. 130000 integer iterations/second and the P4 Extreme Edition can only manage 1/3 of that? SSE4 must really be something.

Looks like my next system is definitely going to be Conroe-based.
