Quad SLI goes retail with 7950 GTX 2

Nvidia plans to ship smaller retail versions of Quad-SLI capable cards later this month. They should cost around $800 to $900 dollars a card. Seems like a good deal to me since a single 7900 GTX costs about $600.

wait you're saying $300 for a small-form factor (I assume that's what "smaller" means) is good?!?! That's all way too overpriced, but why would they up the price $300 if you have to buy twice as many as you do with a normal 7900gtx? That's just stupid, $1000 for SLI (about $500 for a 7900GTX) or $3600 for Quad-SLI? Who is gonna do that?!?! The only way it's a good deal is if you mean they're shipping you 4 seperate cards as a bundle for 1 ULTRA low price, $900.

No, it would be around $1800 for Quad-SLI because the 7900 GTX2 and the 7950 GTX2 are two GPU's on one PCB. That's why they're so expensive. That is actually a pretty good deal.

oh okay that is pretty good then. I'd like to see an 8x SLI setup with 4 7950 GTX 2's.

i would like to see one single game to support quad-sli.

well games don't support SLI, Crossfire or SLI. It's up to the mobo and hardware to decide.

I dont think so...software tells the hardware what to do. if it does not, it will operate in a default state (where each gpu will do a portion of the whole, and compile all the data together). Few games i have see had options to enable mulit core support for both cpu and gpu.

yeah dude multi-core for CPU is a little different. Software does control SLI but the specific game doesn't. I mean if the game had to then there'd be no point in SLI, and the statistics (up to 70% performance increase) would be totally wrong.

yea, is more like 15-25% increase...not worth the extra card cost.
