NVIDIA Designs GeForce GTX 460
NVIDIA is said to be working on another GF100-based SKU, which further cuts down from the GeForce GTX 470. The new SKU, GeForce GTX 460, is expected to rival ATI Radeon HD 5850 in the sub-$300 market segment. The GF100 will be configured to have a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, driving 1024 MB (1 GB) of memory. Clock speeds could be another thing NVIDIA uses as the determining factor. The GTX 460 will not have a reference design as such, and AIC partners will be allowed to release their own designs from day one. The new SKU is expected to release in June. So what is wrong with the 5870 again other than some spin?
Right now $419 with free shipping, or they just ran out of $394 with free shipping, lifetime warranty VisionTek cards. $414.99 with free shipping for a sapphire card with better cooling.
$349 plus $8 for shipping for a 470, so $360 all said and done.
The other card i had before that was a £155 brand new 8800gt before that i had a brand new x800gto that was £120, see a pattern emerging?
I look for value in a card and i aint seen any yet in this generation. The 5850 is at the cheapest £220 in the UK, excluding deals and specials (which are hard to find). Its either the 5850 or possibly the gtx460 if its performance is right but at the moment the prices are a little to expensive and availability is short.
IF nV could produce an LV edition that matched 5770 performance and 5770 power, then they would have a competitive offering... I would go for it just for the CUDA and physx options. But if this thing is going to heat up and drink like the 5830 does, then no thanks.
Most likely will be much more power hungry than the GTX470...
I'm out for this round as well. Nobody has a good upgrade path for me yet.
not to many people care witch is fastest at top of the line £400 card thats crazy money to spend on something that will drop £200 probly buy the end of the year. people want whats good for the price . so if gtx260 is £115 and 4870 is £140 -£160 witch or u gona buy. the extra price dont justifiy the wee bit of performance gained. and since i undervolted my card to 0.95 v at stock clocks i dont care a about the extra perf.
One more thing my 2d volts are 0.75v amps 2.2 , can some1 smarter than me tel me the watts? please i cant remember but its somewere near the 5870 idle volts i think.
