New LCD technology makes CRT obselete
LCDs were never as good as traditional CRT in certain areas like color response, saturation, accuracy and overall black-level response. This is all about to change with eCinema's new LCD technology, which is being called high dynamic range LCD, and also supports "deep color", which is higher than 24-bit color, starting at 30-bit or 36-bit and can go up to 48-bit. The new panels are able to display 36-bit color (12-bits per color channel), and 1000 to 4000 step gray-scales, producing fantastic gradients. It will also support a contrast ratio of up to 30,000:1, which would give eCinema's new DCM40HDR panel better black levels than a normal CRT.

If not too much... It's MINE
Getting high resolution lcds are awful because watching low res(or even normal res!) video clips on them is almost impossible. You are always limited to whatever their preset resolution is. Also playing games like starcraft is very blurry.
Another example would be CS1.6 where you play the best at resolutions of 1024x768 or lower.
But If it's image quality you're after CRT are still way better for different resolutions and better colours. Ah well... always have been more of a sound person myself. :D
maybe current LCD TV will drop in price
