ioDrive2 Brings Innovation and Efficiency to Japan's Data Centers

Fusion-io and Tokyo Electron Device today announced the availability of the Fusion ioDrive2 and Fusion ioDrive2 Duo in Japan. The Fusion ioDrive2 products deliver up to 2.4 TB of powerful enterprise flash performance into servers to accelerate applications with an efficient solution that reduces the need to spend valuable energy and resources on legacy storage appliances or ineffective SSDs.

"Given Japan's well-deserved reputation for being one of the most innovative nations in the world, we are very proud to introduce the ioDrive2 with Tokyo Electron Device to help Japanese companies leverage their most important asset - data," said David Flynn, Fusion-io CEO and Chairman. "Whether in online commerce, social media, financial systems, or ensuring safe, on-schedule transportation systems, data is what powers our world today. With the ioDrive2, companies can unlock latent performance in their data centers in order to accelerate their applications while saving on both capital and operational expenses."

"We are very pleased to be able to offer the Fusion ioDrive2 in Japan. The new product improves I/O acceleration even more than the previous model to dramatically boost application performance," said Katsuyuki Amano, Tokyo Electron Device, VP & General Manager CN Business. "We are confident that the Fusion ioDrive2 is capable of meeting the need of enterprises which use large databases and data warehouses or dealing with research and development fields that require high performance computing. In addition, we believe our customers will be able to gain cost savings and improved profits, as the ioDrive2 can reduce datacenter hardware footprints. We will continue to deliver Fusion-io's innovative technologies to our customers, together with our own high-quality service."

Fusion-io was the first company to bring flash memory performance to the server to significantly accelerate enterprise applications, databases, virtualization and cloud computing. The Fusion ioMemory platform gives customers maximum choice in integrating ioMemory into a wide variety of servers to meet the needs of their application without the need for an expensive backend storage array.

Building on Fusion-io's history for building innovative enterprise products, the new ioDrive2 and ioDrive2 Duo deliver powerful low latency performance, improved endurance and the reliability required in today's information economy. New features of the ioDrive2 and ioDrive2 Duo include:

- Nearly symmetrical read and write access with best in class low queue depth performance

- Consistent low latency access for mixed workloads with 15 microsecond write latency, 3 GB/s bandwidth, over 850,000 read IOPS and over 900,000 write IOPS

- Maximum capacity in the smallest footprint, with up to 2.4 TB of capacity to fuel server efficiency even in the most data-intensive environments

- Powerful new intelligent self-healing feature called Adaptive FlashBack provides complete chip level fault tolerance, which enables ioMemory to repair itself after a single chip or a multi chip failure without interrupting business continuity

- System level integration with the latest Fusion-io VSL 3.0 software subsystem

- More work per unit of processing with the cut-through Fusion-io architecture, which continues to deliver performance increases as CPUs become more powerful

- Extended support for all major operating systems, including Windows, Linux, OSX, Solaris x86, ESXi 5.0 and HP-UX

- Field programmability, allowing IT professionals maximum flexibility in customizing their ioMemory platform to meet the unique needs of their enterprise

The Fusion-io MLC ioDrive2 and ioDrive2 Duo is now available in 365 GB, 785 GB, 1205 GB and 2.4 TB capacities. SLC products in 400 GB, 600 GB and 1.2 TB capacities are coming soon.
