NVIDIA Founders to be Co-Chairs of Second Harvest Food Bank’s 2006 Holiday Food & Fund Drive

Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is pleased to announce Jen-Hsun Huang and Chris Malachowsky, co-founders of NVIDIA, as co-chairs of the 2006 Holiday Food & Fund Drive. In addition to co-founding NVIDIA in April 1993, Huang serves as President and CEO while Malachowsky is an NVIDIA Fellow and Senior Vice President, Engineering and Operations. "We are pleased that Jen-Hsun and Chris accepted our invitation to co-chair this year's Drive," said Beth DeWolf, Senior Director of Development and Communications for Second Harvest. "NVIDIA has been a high level supporter of the food bank for a number of years and both Jen-Hsun and Chris support our efforts with personal contributions as well."

Each holiday season Second Harvest Food Bank runs one of the largest food & fund drives in the country. The food and financial donations collected this time of year are used to feed hungry people in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties all year long. This year's drive kicks off on October 16th and runs through the middle of January.

"Second Harvest Food Bank has a clear mission: to provide food to people in need in our community. Hundreds of charitable companies in the Bay Area have contributed generously to this cause each year," said Mr. Huang. "For these companies, helping those in need is both a privilege and a responsibility. It is also fabulously uplifting for our employees. I look forward to teaming with our fellow Bay Area companies to raise the largest contribution ever during this holiday season."

Mr. Malachowsky, added: "While the Food Bank serves a large amount of individuals each month, we need to do more, as there is still a gap between the number of people who are fed and the number who are hungry."
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is a private nonprofit organization that collects and distributes more than 28 million pounds of food each year to low income children, adults and seniors. The Food Bank currently serves an average of 156,000 individuals each month; the majority are families with dependent children and seniors.
