EK Adds Gold Plated EK-Supremacy Water Block to the Lineup

EK Water Blocks, Ljubljana based premium water cooling gear manufacturer, is proud to introduce the latest member of EK-Supremacy line of flagship performance universal CPU water blocks - the gold plated variant EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ - Gold.

This gold plated variant is a perfect companion for the latest generation of black 'n gold themed ASUS, ASRock and ECS motherboards and also features gold-plated PreciseMount mounting mechanism to perfectly match this two-tone theme. gold plated copper block. couldn't the temp decrease be due to the better flow. so the gold is purely aesthetics?

I been thinking of a different block, and a gold/black themed intel mod. looks good!
- better hydraulic performance: due to improved design up to 20% higher flow compared to EK-Supreme HF
- better cooling performance: up to 2°C lower CPU temperatures compared to EK-Supreme HF

The fins will be so full of gunk in no time you will not be seeing the gold shine for long either.

First waterblock of mine was a a gold plated Koolance. Looked brand spanking new after 4 years of use. Gold simply does not oxidize, even in saltwater. Very, very inert.

No, it hasn't.

Silver - 429
Copper - 401
Gold - 318

This is just aesthetics. It has no advantage compared to nickel plating. The only advantages of plated block is corrosion resistance.

Yea and no. The gold plating virtually guarantees no tarnish or reactivity with anything in the loop. The layer is so thin that thermal conductivity is a non-issue. It also gives a mirror finish, no pits, thought the base is only as flat as the substrate.

Indeed, gold does look good.

indeed. this is like fake jewellery!
and yes the insides could have been shinier. but as you said it can be only as fine as the substrate.

90£ for a piece of kit that in the end will make NO difference, other than to bolster ones vanity anyhow. Pointless.

There were days when we could purchase blocks made of silver. They actually made a difference. They didn't sell very many.

its 90 euros, and well if it stayed that colour for years id definitely buy one based on the block is high end anyway and looks fantastic.

im keeping this block in my mind for next mod!

Gold doesn't really flake off that easy though, see: gilded old buildings. Survives acid rain and other rubbish just fine. I am pretty sure it can take a bit of distilled water.

Silver block tarnishes, and will be a pain to clean. Gold doesn't.

The plating quality depends solely on the process/operator, and going by EKs history...

Show me a silver block tarnished on the inside. Shit, show me a silver block! :laugh:
