NVIDIA moves timeline for 80nm production to compete with ATI

ATI is on schedule to begin moving all its new graphics cards to 80nm production sometime this month. NVIDIA has decided to change the release date for its move to 80nm graphics cards. This is probably to compete with ATI. Among the graphics cards that are getting moved to 80nm ahead of schedule are the G72 and the G73 cards, as well as the G80 series.

Why are ATI and nVidia still trying to outdo eachother in the "old" generation?

Must be because ATI keeps trying to get the leg up when they think that nVidia will only focus on DX10, but then nVidia gets them.

Also, its probably because nither of the companies will have anything but high-end cards till the spring.
