Intel Core i9-14900KF Tops PassMark Single-Core Rankings

The 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" desktop CPU lineup was not showcased during Intel Innovation's keynote presentation—instead, upcoming Meteor Lake and Lunar Lake generations were put in the spotlight. We will likely have to wait for an official announcement closer to the expected October 17 launch date of K and KF SKUs. The Core i9-14900KF model has emerged once again, thanks to benchmark results hitting the 'net—Passmark's owner, David Wren, declared on social media: "Yet another high-end CPU has made a significant debut on the single-threaded chart today! While it's not available for purchase yet, the Intel 4th Gen i9-14900KF CPU has claimed the top spot on the chart."

The benched Core i9-14900KF scored 4939 points in PassMark's single-thread test, which surpasses equivalent 13th gen heavyweights: Core i9-13900KS—4769 points and Core i9-13900K—4666 points. Intel's iGPU-less flagship desktop processor now sits at the top of Passmark's single-thread rating table. VideoCardz noted: "It's worth mentioning that the i9-13900KS also boasts a 6.0 GHz clock speed, and the 14900KF achieved this score using relatively modest DDR5-5600 memory." Multi-threaded performance is a tad disappointing—this 14900KF sits about level with the 13900K with an extremely narrow 0.6% difference.

fevgatosΙf this is the case, that is sad. Should have bought a 13900ks, damn.
According to Benchlife blog that broke the news on the clocks, the stock configuration here should have a 100MHz bump over the i9-13900KS on the E-cores and "P-core boost 2.0 frequency", but clamped to 125W thermal profile (which would effectively mean they can almost never reach those clocks anyway). The targets for the 13900KS are 6.0 TVB, 5.8 TBMT3, 5.6 P-boost 2.0, 4.3 E-boost

That and they're mass produced chips, the KS series are hand picked so it's likely most i9-13900KS chips are better than your average i9-14900K, and should have similar performance once power consumption's unlocked and any supposed overclocking done. 14900K's will release on October 17, so the first few reviews and benchmarks should be starting to surface very soon.

All in all this reminds me of the Core 2 Extreme QX9650 and the QX9770, except that this time you don't even get the 400 FSB support - anyone who got a 13900KS basically bought an early-access and potentially higher than average quality 14900K, and anyone who had a 13900K needs to lose absolutely no sleep over it, the only segment being offered something this round is the Core i7 one, I guess people who are still on Alder Lake chips should buy an i7-14700K as it'll be a healthy upgrade over the i9-12900K or 12900KS.

It's hard to kill hope. Or cope. Im still hoping :D

Don't care about overclocking, I just wanna lock all cores to 5.5ghz with the least amount of power draw possible. The KS was exceptional at doing just that.

October 17th are the nda's for the reviews?

Believe it's the actual launch date, NDA should be in the same week. The 14900K may be a good pick for that, though
