To CCC or not to CCC ? That is the question.
It's been about nine months now (Catalyst 4.9) since ATI introduced their Catalyst Control Center (CCC) software to make video settings more user friendly. It sure looks cool, but does it really make things better? Personally, I don't use it anymore. I tried it when it first came out, but I found it too buggy and the .Net Framework (Microsoft?) bit turned me off and gave my computer the fits.
The people over at AnandTech have gently rekindled my interest with an article on the CCC and what it holds for the future. I must admit that 5.7 and 5.8 look very promising,

Blue is so much more soothing than red, but it's performance and ease of use that we want. Apparently it comes with a wizard...no, not W1zzard.
A little history, some FPS numbers, pics and a few words about the future make for a nice light read here.
Oh, and of course, drop us a word and tell us if you CCC or not.

At least Ati recognizes this problem, and they're working on it, hope future versions will have improved responsiveness and less memory footprint.
