Kingston Launches Four New DDR3 Memory Modules

Competing with other memory manufacturers, Kingston announced today four new modules optimized for the latest Intel X38 and P35 motherboards. The first two new products that work at 1625MHz, are the KHX13000D3LL/1G (1GB module) and KHX13000D3LLK2/2G (2GB kit), both certified to work with latencies of 7-7-7-20-1T at 1.9V and costing $224 and $448 respectively. The higher-end HyperX offers are certified to run at 1800MHz with latencies of 8-8-8-24-1T at 1.9V. The 1GB PC3-14400 module is named KHX14400D3/1G and costs $227 while the 2GB kit, nicknamed KHX14400D3K2/2G has a price tag of $453. All Kingston memory comes with a lifetime warranty and 24/7 technical support.

Very nice. I'm glad to see that more DDR3 modules are showing their newly born faces. This means more competition which means better pricing. I'm hoping that DDR3 will gain a lot of market share in comparison to DDR2 which is dominating the scene with obscenely low prices and more than adequate performance. The only logical reason why I want DDR3 to succeed is the lowered voltage used to operate it.:D
Other than that, I think DDR3 is a waste of hard-earned cash.

On the manufacturer's side, lifetime warranty is pretty sexy.

Kingston is pretty cheap, and you can often notice it on the performance and quality. but a fine ram for a budget PC.

I have a Kingston RAM, and Kingston USB flash drive, both are absolute crap. I am not seeing myself buying another Kingston product very soon

These are HyperX and they are not cheap and they are great quality and good performance (and great compability). I've had HyperX modules and the were great, but kingston also has value memory that can be those thing you said (usually not). You get what you pay for.

Same goes for memory sticks, have a 256MB DataTraveler ELITE for 2 years, again not cheap, it's fast and not crap. Same thing as before, kingston also has cheap memory sticks with poor speed.

I could bet that your memory is not HyperX and your memory stick is not a ELITE version ;)

Id like to see the timings come down. Hell those are ridiculous even at the price. Youll take a performance hit.

DDR 400 went to 2-2-2, DDR2 800 went to 4-4-4, so shouldn't DDR3 1625 be just 8-8-8 ?) I'd say that 7-7-7 is already good. 6-6-6 is going to come, as it took DDR2 while to get low latencies as well. Surely you're not expecting them to hit 4-4-4, like people expected DDR2 to hit 2-2-2 :)
