World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is Now Officially Here

Today sees the release of Blizzard's last World of Warcraft installment, the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. This is the second expansion to date, making the MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) game by far the largest in the world. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King features a massive new continent called Northrend, the brand-new death knight Hero class, unique dungeons, an open-world PvP zone with siege vehicles and destructible buildings, and hundreds of brand-new quests. The expansion is available in both a standard and Collector's Edition. The Collector's edition includes the original game DVD, a 208-page book featuring never-before-seen images from the game, an exclusive in-game pet, a behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, a soundtrack CD with 21 songs, and an exclusive mouse pad with a map of the newly opened continent of Northrend. The game should already be available everywhere, have fun playing it.

I know a couple of people who picked it up yesterday at 7-11 convenience stores, they were just selling it early, i pity the people who waited on line to get it.

I just don't understand WoW or any game you have to pay monthly for. I mean if I spend 50 bucks on a game I should be able to play it whenever I want. Call me old school but I would rather spend the extra money on a faster connection or something.

I would love to play Conan as I was a big fan of the comic growing up. Of course I was a big fan of Heavy Metal magazine too. However the last game that was based off of that sucked.

I don't get how a game with incredibly repetitive gameplay can get people to repeat the same gameplay over and over. I mean, it's one thing to do that over and over when you have an engrossing story keeping you going, but just doing it for loot?

 Hey at least you get paid for it instead of paying for it. Although I suppose the truly serious players probably often make at least their money back by selling characters and such.

Actually, pnp D&D is still the best thing going. There isn't a computer RPG that comes close to the fun of getting a group of folks together with a good GM.

I find it rather intriguing why there's so much WOW bashing on these forums.
If you don't like the game, so be it. We all have different tastes. Otherwise we'd a rather boring race.

lol!
Actually, I just came back from a 2-week hiking trip in the Peruvian Andes! My point was that the original D&D is so much more intellectually and socially engaging than any MMORPGs and it's also actually fun :nutkick:

A great film I just saw last night is "Redbelt" by David Mamet btw

Please keep the ban stick away, i really just got asked this from my mate!!
My (Former) Crack smoking friends says WoW is just like crack. It's addictive, it's expensive, keeps you in the house all the time and stops you talking to other humans, Just like WoW!!
Should we all start smoking crack, my friend says he would rather lose his teeth than grow a set of elf ears!!

Anyone done both?? which one wins. would love the feedback!! (as bad as crack is at least you can get a girlfriend on it lol, she may have nae teeth but no she aint got elf ears.)

I know this may come as a shock, but different people like spending their money on different things. I'm sure you can find more information about this on the "Internet."

nothing wrong with games in moderation just like casual drugs lol But have you seen some of the news this morning, all those idiots dressed up in costumes waiting for a game, if i did that for COD 5 i would probably be arrested!!
Some of these WoW idiot who dress up/Spend 16 hours a day playing it/Spend all thier money on WoW related crap are giving all PC gamers a bad name, were not like that since we are replying here on TPU, would you rather locked in a room with some normal or near normal TPU'ers or a room full of those freaky dressed up WoW'ers??

Ugh -- just replace every instance of "WoW" in your post with "football" and you make almost the same point. :banghead:
