The Intel Pentium II Xeon 400 1MB was a server/workstation processor with 1 core, launched in June 1998, at an MSRP of $2836. It is part of the Pentium II Xeon lineup, using the Drake architecture with Slot 2. To further increase overall system performance, up to four Pentium II Xeon 400 1MB CPUs can link up in a multi-processor (SMP) configuration. Pentium II Xeon 400 1MB has 1 MB of L2 cache and operates at 400 MHz. Intel is building the Pentium II Xeon 400 1MB on a unknown production process using 8 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Pentium II Xeon 400 1MB, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 38 W, the Pentium II Xeon 400 1MB consumes only little energy. The highest officially supported memory speed is 100 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. This processor lacks integrated graphics, you might need a graphics card.
A lot of games will not work on this processor, because they require the SSE instruction set, which is not supported.
