The Intel Xeon Phi 7250F is a server/workstation processor with 68 cores, launched in June 2016. It is part of the Xeon Phi lineup, using the Knights Landing architecture with Socket 3647. Intel Hyper-Threading technology is available and effectly doubles the core-count of the P-Cores, to a total of 272 threads. Xeon Phi 7250F has 512 KB of L2 cache per core and operates at 1400 MHz by default, but can boost up to 1600 MHz, depending on the workload. Intel is making the Xeon Phi 7250F on a 14 nm production node using 8,000 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Xeon Phi 7250F, which limits its overclocking potential.
With a TDP of 230 W, the Xeon Phi 7250F is extremely power hungry, which means you need top-notch cooling. Intel's processor supports DDR4 memory. ECC memory is supported, too, which is an important capability for mission-critical systems, to avoid data corruption. This processor lacks integrated graphics, you might need a graphics card.
Hardware virtualization is available on the Xeon Phi 7250F, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Additionally, IOMMU virtualization (PCI passthrough) is supported, so that guest virtual machines may directly use host hardware. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) can run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications. Besides AVX, Intel has added support for the newer AVX2 and AVX-512 instructions, too.
