BFG Offers Some AGP Owners Free Upgrade to PCI Express Graphics Card

poor americans... what's the average monthly income in the US?

In Hungary it is 500-600 usd/month.

Lowest price for a 4870/512 in Hungary: 347 usd
Lowest price on newegg.com for 4870/512: 239 usd

So i don't think they need such actions like this...

It's because they have so much money that they can do this sort of thing. Wasteful "@$#@&%!

Were poor as shit right now. Idk what you guys are talking about. There are forclosures all over the place including my own family. This is just a company seeming like they are being nice. Im sure theres a catch behind it as we all know.

Oooo... That is pretty cool. I could dig up my 6800gs and send it back! Will I? No, backup AGP cards are necessary for me to maintain old systems.

true but america is in a sh*t situation right now, forclosures everywhere, taxes are piling up and large companies are dying left and right

1. Find friend with a AGP BFG 6800.
2. Convince him it's worthless.
3. Buy it off for $5 (You're a nice guy, helping a buddy unload all the junk and all, right?)
4. ???
5. Profit.

Lets' say you are BFG with a lifetime warranty. Now, let's look at how many registered users you have with BFG AGP cards still active. How do we reduce the potential liability of support, simplify our suport model and look like heroes? This sounds like a good execution to me.

what about if you don't upgrade

I guess I should bite the bullit, and go with the $50 upgrade:eek:

It's inevitable that i'm already starting that way and I keep looking at that 3rd Gen Black Pearl Special Edition P5K and with DDR2 sooooo cheap, it's about the best route to actually get a better setup than what I'm running now :toast: :toast:

Well, they will have their AGP stocks shored up again with people accepting their generous offer. Warranty replacements of EOL items are always used.

i KNEW i should have kept my 6800gs.... dang...

the U.S.'s economy is actually in what's considered a mild recession, goes like this i get
normal -> recession -> depression

though gas prices are dam low compared to the summer it's 1.99 a gallon in elkins, west virginia. this summer it got up to 4.28 a gallon one hell of a turn around though i dont know how long the gas will stay low, i think they're just lowering it so SUV sales will go back up then they will shoot gas back up

now since when was this a who's country is best/deserves it the most topic. America is far from the wealthiest country out there. It's more of the fact that we're one of BFG's largest consumers (population plays a key here, not wealth) and that large-ness makes it profitable in the mind's of bfg's financial executives to start this program. Do I deserve a Bentley just because some rich man out in Saudi Arabia owns three from his oil business?

Anybody have an unregistered 6/7 series AGP card from BFG that they wanna send me?

Correct me if i am wrong, but those AGP cards that are listed, could run a great number of good games at playable speeds, so i don't know, i think deal is kinda lame. I mean if you have agp and pcie on your motherboard and want to take the time and effort to trade in your agp towards towards one of the pcie cards, go for it. But i would just buy a card at the store, 5-15mins right there.

goin from a mid range card to a low end is a kick to the teeth, thats like going from a 1950 Pro to a 2600.

How'd you work that one out? Going from an 6800 to a 9600 GT is hardly a kick to the teeth, a 9600 GT is far far faster than a 6800. :shadedshu

Hungary is in shit situation since 1914 and we never got anything for free. So stop whining.

That's because the electronics stuff are the cheapest in the US, and salaries are high (i didn't say the highest) so you can easily buy the newest stuff.

Sorry for the off-topic, but i don't feel it fair..

Wouldnt a "BFG" 7800GS to a 9800"GT OC" be a great improvement??

Now if it was say, from my Bliss, then it would have to be a far better deal to move from it.

That's [Bliss7800GS+]the main reason I have "not" made a move from AGP completely, but when there's only a $50 cost to move a "paper weight" backup, to a modern card, that seems like I shouldnt pass it up right?:confused:

It is in dead a real good offer.
Most manufacturers should do this, is part of a good client attention policy.

I dont understand the logic you're operating but a 7800GS has less than half the performance of a 9600GT, so how is it a kick in the teeth, its more like replacement teeth for any dud teeth.

i would imagine they made some sort of deal with the motherboard and memory partners they probably have, like nvidia a large purveyor of motherboards, or its a tax write off. at any rate there is some deal type thingy going on here where they make/save more than they are spending. no company just hemorrhages money like that, except banks jk lol.

Not exactly -- you got southern Czechoslovakia for free when you sided with Hitler during WWII. :shadedshu

If you can't afford electronics where you're living, move -- you're in the EU, now, nothing's stopping you. Don't blame America for your problems -- pack your bags and move to Belgium or something. :toast:
