4870x2 Resolution out of Range Error

Well that's your choice but really you can't say it's ATIs fault shit happens. For now just relex me and Jr are trying to help you.
 
Yeah, I am trying to relax. It just seems like something like this always happens. It makes me feel like an idiot to even think that a card this awesome would work for me. There is a voice in my head saying, "Hah, you idiot. Shit always happens to you, why would you think this card would be any different!?"
 
Jr and I were discussing it and He mentioned it could be your Power Supply Or the Vregs on your video card. What is the output on your Power Supply?

A few days before the last post the card I currently had (HD3870 ICEQ3) died a few days later and needed rma (ran with single 2600 Pro just fine during that time). Take this post with a grain of salt. I say RMA the card.
 
Sounds like your games are set to use too high of a refresh rate, or are using a resolution that the monitor doesn't support.

What is odd is that the maximum refresh rate in CCC shows as 85Hz, the specs on the monitor only say it does 75Hz, perhaps that is part of your problem. I would try uninstalling the monitor drivers and see what happens, I've found that they tend to do more harm then good.

I think you need to use a refresh rate of 59Hz. Try that and see if that stops the problem. Also make sure you have the monitor's driver's installed. If so re-try 60Hz refresh rate. I've read that you have to reboot for an out of sync error. However:
1st try 59Hz refresh rate if you haven't installed the drivers yet
2nd install the drivers for the monitor and return it to 60Hz to see if the problem stops.

Is this one of those usb monitors?

Indeed I asked him that Earlier he stated it was at 60hz? but who knows. I noticed that In CCC too.

Yeah, but the issue is that the drivers are reporting to the games that he max is 85Hz, and most games tend to automatically use the maximum refresh rate reported by the drivers. The refresh rate set for the desktop doesn't apply to game, usually.

Oooh with that said couldn't just force a refresh rate of 59 in DxDiag and force vsync in CCC?

That might work, but I would try uninstalling the monitor drivers first.
 
I tried connecting my monitor to my 4870X2 via HDMI and 1920x1080 worked. No more "Out of Range." The thing is, I find the quality of the connection unacceptable. There is a weird color/contrast distortion for some reason. Also, the games ran with four bars around the picture. The benchmark utility, however, did not have the bars. I guess this means that my monitor is not the problem. So what else does this all mean?
 
First off go into CCC and Manually set your Refresh Rate to 59Hz/60Hz also Set your Desktop Area to 1920x1080 and you can Manually change your Color/Contrast in CCC to whatever you like.
 
I am back to the DVI connection now as the quality of the HDMI adapter connection is simply unacceptable.
 
Thats weird Mine is in HDMI and I have had no problems with a 32inch.
 
Do you have another DVI cable to try?Or another HDMI cable to try?
 
You should try the Redude DVI Frequency option in CCC.

Are you sure? Have you ever seen it via DVI? Maybe you're just used to the way it looks w/ HDMI.
 
Yeah im sure, I would notice if something was wrong with my Card I'm sort of a Perfectionist;)

Damnit. I unplugged everything but the HDMI connection to the monitor and the picture looked good when I started up. I checked the settings and it said it was set to 1920x1080 at 59Hz instead of the normal 60Hz it says when I'm connected via DVI. So being the idiot I am, I messed with it and changed it back to 60Hz. Now the picture is messed up looking and the color is messed up again. I switch back to 59Hz but this doesn't fix it.

...it seems like the issues just keep multiplying.
