Can't beat a HD4850/70 for its price/performance ratio :cool:

I still love my 3870s, they still handle Crysis Warhead even very nicely with v.high settings :toast:

Sure you can beat it. Get a GTX260 or higher @ a sale price

Likewise if the 4870 is at a sale price it usually isn't lower than the 260 or 280. Like those $200 GTX280s around Christmas :3

Well....I just went the other way....Sapphire HD4870 512 MB to MSI GTX285 1 GB
Performance way the Nvidia is better (in syntetic tests) but I have to say, that the
graphics, (imo) is not so good.

My son came to me, after switching to NV, (he did´nt know that I switched) (he is 10) and asked why the graphics and text,
all of a sudden where (in WoW and TF2) not so livingfull - meaning that edge´s where more hard....he thought

The screen resolution, AA and all the rest of the games settings are the same as when the ATI card was in the maschine...

I have to give him a little bit right....the GTX285 seems to be a faster but at the same time more....argh...it´s hard to explain - it´s a bit like listning to a Compact Disc vs. a recordplayer/turntable

You mean it's faster but sacrifices quality to do so?

Having tried both NVIDIA and ATI cards, I would have to agree that ATI picture is better (in my opinion). I don't like saying that one is better than the other since I think it could be a little subjective, but I like the picture I get with my HD card.

i got the 4870 1GB for less than a 260, in current Au prices.

Oh and i'll be telling you pretty soon if quality is better or worse - i've had this 8800GT hooked up to this TV for over 6 months and used it daily... i'm going to notice any changes.

I like ATi over NV for one simple reason, for me ATi drivers don't make my system BSOD at random, NV drivers do.

yes....I think so....or at least it seems that NV handles graphics in a other way than ATI...

Shaders and ROP´s and who knows what else is diff. on these to manufactures...

Did you buy it from PCCG? their overnight deliveries make me smile, I just ordered a Sidewinder x5 mouse from them today for 55 AUD which I should expect by tomorrow morning!
