FREE 1 Year Subscription to MS Technet Plus

Because people are people,if a shop accidently put a sign up saying 50" tv for $50,no one would just buy one, they'd all buy 10.

i got my dinovo edge for $200 due to a pricing screwup. i'm not averse to taking advantage of mistakes in the business world.

The arstechnia article about this too..

Seems all they have is Update 3:Microsoft has caught on.

Yeah, thanks a lot Ars. I seriously thought this was a legitimate promotion based on the way the article was written. Not only was it NOT, but now I feel like a dirty criminal after reading the Kristan Kenny blog post. I never pirate software, period... and now my name is in a database at MS linked with pirated software keys.

This is from ars's comments section.

LOL. :roll::roll:

I want to :nutkick:M$!!
Bring up my hopes then brand me as a pirate:shadedshu

Exactly. What you supposed to do,think ooh the price is wrong, best not buy it.

i remember an episode of penn and tellers bullshit, i think it was.

They actually tried giving out free money - and most people wouldnt take it. they see something free, they get paranoid and leave. I aint one of those people, if i see a good deal i leap on it. I've got stung with bad deals, and had victories with good deals. it evens out.

It says the accounts in Canada are going to be looked at closely ,Man i only kept clicking the get key and 9 of them for Vista Sp2 same with the Office07,Not worried about Xp I have a store bought copy and key ,I just wanted the update iso file and a few keys like 3 or something like that for testing on prebuilt machines(not with the os in it )But oh well If they are gonna make me out as pirate fine.I hesitated at this offer but after reading the post for like 4 pages in before I tried it out,So How was i supposed to know it was not for end users.:twitch:

If anything, this whole thing is good for them, more people thinking about purchasing technet, I know I will once the release of 7 hits, Because it will be cheaper than purchasing a single copy of 7 ultimate, Especially considering there are 20% off coupons. Now if Microsoft decides to be nice about it, I'd like to see a reduced cost Technet Plus subscription to the people who would use the service. Though I doubt that will ever happen.

This is sort of off topic, but one of the ways they prosecute people for receiving stolen goods is to show that the price they paid was so far below fair value that they should have assumed that the goods were less than legit.

Something like this obviously wouldn't fall into that category though. People give stuff away all the time if they think that it will benefit them in the long run. MS could have thought that this was a good way to promote technet since you would have to renew after a year anyway.

Yeah, yeah. OK. I didn't believe that either - even as I was typing it. :shadedshu

Mussels, keep me posted on Win Server 08 and let me know if the key works.
Or anyone for that matter, keep us updated on if the keys still successfully work.

I will too seems like a good thing for $350 a year and get all the files and programs.

Mine for Vista x64 Ultimate still does.

If i could afford it,i'd have subscibed already.

Me too, the deal is too good....
I'd better get one when I get a job...

I agree, I think ultimately this won't be a bad thing for MS. Give it about a week and they'll see June's subscriptions soar. If this was a PR stunt, good job MS because they've got a lot of people realizing what's going on here.

Maybe they should do something similar with the Zune Pass and get everybody on board with all the awesome features it has to offer ;)

True... I've never ever heard of TechNet until this came up...
I hope they dont blacklist all those keys...

Sweet. Let's hope when I get some blank dvd-r's I can install some stuff and it actually works

I've had no issues using Office Ultimate 07, hell I was even notified about an update for it.

I feel bad but then again I don't. For all the times I had to pay to get a new key to install M$ software due to over activating, I am most definitely going to purchase a Technet account probably around X-mas(gotta pay THE MAN first).

I doubt I will be purchasing Technet. How much is it to get just the OSes and the keys?

Well considering, Windows Vista Ultimate Retail is $249.99 and technet is $349.99 for the first year, and the 15-20% off coupons push it closer to the same price. Technet is a better deal if you're going to be using more than one system for sure.

i know its $512 AU before discounts for a technet plus, and $700 for a retail vista ultimate.

Since technet would get me 10 keys for vista and 7 ultimate each... it kind wins in the value. and theres 20% off coupons around the web too.

Um, for the record I questioned it. I was told to STFU its free.

STFU, it was free. :D

I only got 9 keys total. 1 for Office, and then single keys for the different versions of Vista and Server 08 and an XP x64 key. I wasn't trying to be greedy, just wanted to test some of this stuff for fun, and have Vista for my 3 main rigs. Hopefully they don't feel the need to review my account.

I ended up getting 1 key total, I wasn't being greedy even though I know I could've just picked up what I needed at the time. That being an office 2007 key, so I feel like I came out on top :)

I just validated my Vista and Office ultimate installs on the MS site, no problem so far. You'd think if they were going to blacklist us they'd have done it by now.

I went ahead and payed for it. Hell just having access to the different Windows 7 makes it worth the price, plus all the other goodies they have. Was playing with Windows 3.1 and DOS last night, forgot how fun and simple things used to be. Good stuff. :toast:
edit: If you are interested in buying it here is a 20% off code: TNCP171 Drops it to $279 for the first year.
